1987 Rover 800 820 SE Mk1 - Immaculate show car For Sale
Welcome to this listing for my 1987 registered (but 1986 built) Mk1 Rover 820SE. This car is simply lovely, and has covered a mere 24,000 miles from new.
Finished in the gorgeous metallic Azure Blue, the Rover is complemented with a sumptuous velour interior, in "Flint" colour. This is a very rare opportunity to acquire one of these cars in original, unrestored condition.
Early Mk1 Rover 800s are so thin on the ground now - most have long since met their maker in car heaven. Being such an early car, this vehicle boasts some features which Rover 800 enthusiasts will know are only available on the most early of cars. Despite its date of registration, it has a very early chassis number and was made in 1986 - the year in which the Rover 800 was launched. It is difficult to get a good early one of these now.
Being the SE model, it features the Single Point Fuel Injection system. The car drives beautifully, with barely a note in the background. It is as smooth and taut as you'd expect a 24,000 mile vehicle to be.
Equipment-wise, the car boasts four electric windows, central locking and a six speaker stereo. All of the equipment fitted to the car works, as would be expected.
Condition-wise, the car is absolutely wonderful. The bodywork has a deep shine, and the interior is bright and fresh. The headlining is in good order, but can be prone to some sagging in cooler weather. Once the car warms up or if it is a warm day, the headlining tightens up nicely.
Overall, condition-wise, I cannot say it is 'as new' - remember this is a 33 year old car so the closest inspection may reveal the odd mark - the most advisable strategy would be for any party interested to contact me to discuss further and to arrange a viewing.
The MOT expires in September, and I am fully prepared to get a full MOT on the vehicle before it leaves for its new home.
The car itself is a well known show car, having been owned prior to myself by a known member of the Rover Sports Register. I bought it in 2013 and the car has been displayed at the NEC Classic Motorshow in Birmingham on three occasions. Odds are you may have seen it there!
This car is priced to ensure it goes to an enthusiast or collector so that this car remains in as stunning condition as it is now.
The private plate shown on the car is not included in the sale but will be removed. If there is interest I would be prepared to sell it separately. The plate will be removed and the car will go back to an E registration.
Rather than writing reams of text, take a look at the photographs. This car is in lovely condition and this represents an unrepeatable opportunity.
The price I’m looking for is £4,995. Serious enquiries only, please. Any "quick sale for cash" or derisory offers will be ignored.
The vehicle is located near Taunton (J25 M5); the town has a mainline British Rail station should that be of use.
