1943 1963 ROVER P4 LOW MILEAGE, FOUR PREVIOUS OWNERS For Sale
1963 Rover P4 “95” Model
Tax and MOT exempt but MOT'd till 20th March 2020, with no advisories). Four previous keepers.
Purchased in September 2018 and brought by transporter to my home for recommissioning and repair having been off the road for a few years
The bottoms of the A posts needed repairing where three sections come together namely bulkhead, inner wing and outer wing. New metal was welded in to restore to original strength.
Bottoms of B posts needed replacing and preformed sections were bought and welded in.
The underside was all good having had underseal from new.
All fluids were changed; coolant, engine oil, gear box oil, and back axle oil. Steering box, idler and king pins topped up.
All four wheel bearings checked and front ones regreased and adjusted.
A new brake servo was needed, the master cylinder rebuilt, all brake hoses replaced, front calipers rebuilt, rear cylinders re -rubbered and new rear brake shoes fitted.
Engine tuned after a reassuring compression test; new points, plugs, plug leads and condenser and distributor cap. The double fuel pump was fitted with new points.
All tappets adjusted and new rocker gaskets fitted together with a new thermostat and replacement housing.
Four new radial ply tyres and inertia reel front belts fitted.
All door and boot rubbers replaced.
Polarity changed to Neg. earth, socket for sat. nav. and headlight flasher installed.
These are the main items of work but, of course, along the way many little issues were attended to to make the Rover as functional and presentable as possible.
The last item of some note is the fitting of variable power assisted steering to ease low speed manoeuvering, made even harder work with radial ply tyres fitted! With the engine alone weighing six hundredweight together with the front suspension and bodywork there is a lot of weight over the front wheels!
The under dashboard tool kit is complete and the boot contains the original jack, starting handle, tyre pump and a wheelbrace.
