I have had this car for coming on 2 years. I've always liked big cars and a Jaguar XJ was one of those on my bucket list. I purchased the car from Norwich where it had been owned by the same owner for 17 years. The Jaguar had been laid up for the latter 9-10 years in the owners garage. I had to dig it out under general family belongings when I went to view it. It has a really good history folder, it has a stack of paperwork about an inch thick including all MOTs dating back to 1996. There are also receipts from the Jag Centre in Spixworth, Norwich totalling thousands of pounds. This car has wanted for nothing.

The current mileage is showing 122,236 however in 2006 it was showing 121,433 and on the oldest MOT in 1996 it was showing 90,696. Together with the stamped service book it is clear that this car did a lot of the mileage in its early days but has done less than 1000 miles in 13 years.

It currently has a brand new MOT for the next 12 months. Recently I have carried out a full service on it including fresh fluids, a new rear shock absorber, front shock absorber top bushes and due to the condition of the metric tyres being perished I have made the difficult decision of replacing the metric wheels for newly refurbished Jaguar 15" lattice wheels with brand new Kuhmo tyres. The metric tyres had small cracks appearing in the sidewalls and I wanted to confidently enjoy the car. I think you will agree from the photos that the new wheels look very period and still look the part. (the original metric wheels and tyres will be sold with the car) I have also replaced the gas struts on both the boot and the bonnet.

The colour I have researched is Jaguar solent blue and really does look nice against the cream leather interior. Everything electrical inside the car works perfectly, there are no warning lights or electrical gremlins which I have been told these cars suffer from. It has all the Sovereign refinements including fully electric front seats, cruise control, electric sunroof and fuel trip computer which all work faultlessly.

There are some age related marks around the bodywork which if interested then photos can be supplied but overall the car looks and feels great to drive. I particularly like how it just wafts along like you're in an armchair, gear change is ultra smooth and engine very quiet and effortless. It has a 3.6L engine.

The car is fitted with an aftermarket immobiliser probably fitted not long after it was first built, there are two sets of keys with the car. It has also got a very 1980s factory fitted Nokia car phone in the centre console which really does remind you of that era. There is the usual XJ40 rear headlining sagging i'm afraid but hasn't bothered me since I sit in the front. It also has a Witter tow bar fitted that looks like it was probably on from new, I did want to remove it to reinstate the look of the rear end but it's still fitted at the present time. (although I think it's towing days should really be over)

I'm only selling the car as I have a couple of other restoration projects that I would like to progress with otherwise i'd happily keep it. There is so much about the car to say, i'd be happy to take any questions via email or better still call to discuss on the number listed below. I won't respond to text messages or WhatsApp, it's a personal preference. Call me old fashioned but I much prefer to talk to someone. Would love it to go to another loving home as this car has so much left to offer still.
