1928 Austin 7 Charming Chummy with a history! For Sale
My Chummy went to America in the 1980s after it was seen in the Lake District, newly restored, by an American who put a "if you ever want to sell.." note on the screen.
It went out to Seattle where it led a pampered life with many other classics including an SS1 tourer (see U-tube comic Video "Austin Seven vs SS1")Remarkably it was not "titled" until I had to do it to get it out of the USA! So it never had US plates! It is now back home & I have sorted it out with all new correct "armoured" wiring, New Battery decent period rear lights, new fabric coupling, Hand brake made to work, correct side mount headlights now fitted (not in photos yet!)not a cross head screw to be seen! etc. Chassis no 52689 Engine no M79342.
It runs really well (50 mile trip the other day)correct oil pressure, and has useful period modifications:- Dynamo engine (only a few months later than the original) with DK4A distributor, Zenith 24T2 Carburettor. Original honeycomb radiator. King pins, track rods replaced in October to cure a bit of wander. Front shoes relined at the same time.
Everything works except the mileometer, Body very sound, some paint blemishes. Good tidy canvas hood with new leather straps, complete set of excellent sidescreens. Reason for sale...too many Sevens & I am being seduced by a Riley....
All paperwork correct with original number reallocated by DVLA. Some photocopies of US documents etc.
