1955 STUDEBAKER E 7 HALF TON 289 V 8 PICK UP TRUCK For Sale

Studebaker 1955 E7 Half Ton Pick Up Truck Restored and Ready to go. Painted in the factory original 1955 colour of Azore Green, the truck has drum brakes and three speed manual transmission with overdrive. You see a lot of pickup trucks around, but rarely do you come across many restored in this truck's league. This truck was delivered new in Texas. In the early 1990's it was bought by a friend of mine in Los Angeles who did a body off restoration on the vehicle. It was finished in the late 1990's and his wife used it as her part time transport. The truck was restored with Studebaker parts with a very knowledgable Studebaker expert. During the restoration many New Old Stock parts were used. Parts that you cannot even dream of buying today unless you attend many State side American Studebaker meets. The truck was restored as a City Truck and has a bit of extra 'Bling' to it's appearance than the standard Studebaker truck with the addition of Chrome front and rear bumper bars. 1955 is probably the best year for Studebaker trucks. It's the only year they used a lot of chrome parts on the front. All other years both before and after the trucks were toned down. It is also the first year that Studebaker offered a V8 across the whole truck range with a 232ci V8 as optional over the standard 6 cylinder models. Like most Studebaker trucks, this one has been discreetly modified so it is actually useable on today's roads and highway speeds. Studebaker trucks are bullet proof vehicles and were built on much tougher chassis' than the other manufacturers and could take a lot more punishment. Typically a normal Studebaker truck in this period will max out at 50 to 60mph. So some modification is a nice way to go if you want to drive at highway speeds. I bought the truck in Los Angeles in 2014 and privately imported it to the UK. All duties and taxes are paid and the truck is on full UK registration. The truck did not require much work, but since it has been in my collection of Studebaker's and Packard's, I have installed all new brake slave cylinders, master cylinder and Power Booster, changed the tie rod ends and installed some new fuel tanks sealing rubber gaskets. I do all my own mechanical work. New old Stock parts used include all chrome detailing parts and headlamp rims, and all fenders, plus a new floor bed. The paint was a little tired when purchased as the truck is designed as a driver. In the last few months I have had the truck completely resprayed and had new window rubbers installed. Upgrades include :- 232ci V8 motor changed out for a rebuilt 289ci V8 Studebaker motor which looks exactly the same on the outside and is painted and detailed correctly. Edelbrock modern 4 barrel Carburettor. Original 6 volt electrics changed to 12 volt with alternator. A much higher differential ratio installed do the truck can do 70 mph with ease. Original T86 Overdrive transmission changed out for the bigger T85 Overdrive 3 speed manual transmissions used in 1956 to 1958 Golden Hawks and Dodge race cars in the early 60's. Electronic ignition Discreetly added master cylinder and power brake booster. Five Steel belted Radial tyres fitted. A First Nation Indian rug is sewn into the back of the front seat. Everything has been done to this truck and it is fully prepared for the next owner to use and enjoy. I am a long term Studebaker owner for the last 36 years, who has lived and driven Studebakers in 3 of the countries around the globe where I have lived. Currently there are 19 Studebakers and Packards in my collection. It's time to let a few go. I'm also the editor of the Studebaker Owners Club UK, so if you wish to join our UK club, get in contact. Payment by cheque, bank and IBAN transfer, with release on cleared funds. International shipping can easily be arranged. If you want an exceptional truck, that is far above the condition of the chaff that is out there and you have the funds, then you can't go past this gem. The condition speaks for itself.
