After 6 years and 6 thousand miles of smiles it is reluctantly time to let my 205 GTi go to a new owner. This is a very original, un-modified, un-restored and totally complete October 1991 1.6 GTi in good usable condition - everything is there, all the trim parts and even the original rear parcel shelf without any massive speaker holes! This was one of the last 1.6 models before emissions rules killed them off, so it has the big valve head and 115BHP.
The car has a comprehensive history file and I've used it every year in my ownership. Lots of parts have been replaced over the recent years including the rear axle, driveshafts, lower front wishbones, clutch 15k ago, even an original Peugeot exhaust has been fitted. 141k miles and 6 previous owners(me since 2013 and the previous owner from 2007) The MOT runs until January 2020. I've never had a car that gets so much attention from random people, whenever I leave it somewhere there will always be someone to ask me about it when I get back!
The car has 1/2 leather seats, Speedline "pepper pot" wheels and 4 matching Dunlops replaced as a set. Being realistic about the condition, as it hasn't been restored it should be mentioned that there is some corrosion at the nearside rear sill and the panel ahead of the NS/R wheel arch, some bubbling is evident on the offside rear sill too so these will need repairing at some point. The bonnet has been sprayed or replaced at some point but doesn't have a lacquer coat so goes flat over time. With such thin panels(it's what makes the car so nimble!) there are a couple of very minor marks. The seat stitching is pulling(as they all do with the original period items) and the plastic body trims need gently rubbing back as they have been painted in the past but that's about it for the bad bits, and it's priced to reflect these elements - I've presented the car "as is" so nothing is hiding.
I think this is a great starting point for a light restoration project that can still be used from day 1. Fabulous car that feels so alive to drive and always results in taking the long back-road home
This is one of the lowest miles and fewest owners out there.
This car has 1 former keeper who owned this for 1 year and then the car was sold to a lady owner who has had it for the rest of its time.....
Red with grey and red cloth 39000 miles. This is my own car. I was first attracted to these cars when I first started trading back in the late eighties, I drove one from Oxford to Marshalls Garage.....
