Full tow bar and all electrics, rear fog light, Kenwood radio / C.D. player, large centre storage box, heated rear screen, interior courtesy lights, 2 x cup holders, tool kit with jack, 4 x rear seats with seat belts, sliding rear windows plus 2 x roof lights, wing mounted rear view mirrors.
Presents overall in an extremely good condition. Surely one of the best colour combinations of Gunmetal Grey metallic under a high Gloss Black roof.
There are no unsightly marks or scratches, which might indicate only light work in the past.
Also, no visible signs of rust or corrosion.
A very pleasant environment indeed. Extremely light and airy, benefiting greatly from the sliding rear windows and roof lights, which also provide excellent all-round visibility.
The headlining is clean and in a good condition, as are all seats, dashboard and instruments.
WHEELS & TYRES
A superb set of 5 Continental Cross-Contact 235/85R/16C’s, all with a very generous tread depth. No evidence of scuffing, bulges or any perishing, Effective traction both on an off-road, when required.
The five spoke alloys are totally unmarked and set the whole vehicle off handsomely.
SERVICE HISTORY & PROVENANCE
Having just returned from a major service, which included oil/air/fuel filters plus, brake discs and pads front and rear, the Defender is ready for its new owner to enjoy.
There is also reassuring evidence of previous major works carried out to keep the vehicle in a top condition. C.V. joint, axle stub, space hub bearing, air-flow meter, front pads and discs, brake fluid change and air pressure sensor were all replaced at 100,863 miles. The EGR valve was replaced at 94,254 miles.
With just four previous owners, (we understand the last two from the same family, so since 2014) and having been in service at the Scottish Outdoor Education Centre in Aberfoyle. If judged on condition alone, it would appear that the 90 has managed to avoid a life of “Hard labour”.
Although we currently don’t hold a full stamped service history, there are invoices back to 2015, plus enough evidence to favourably asses this as a cared for example.
THE DRIVE & ENGINE
The 2402cc four pot, turbo charged Ford Duratorq diesel provides 122hp and plenty of low down torque with 265 lb.ft ( 359 N.m), ideal for tackling the rough stuff. However, due in part to the 6 speed GFT MT -82 manual gearbox, equally at home at motorway cruising speeds.
The Defender 90 might be considered all the car you will ever need, whether collecting the children or crossing fields and mountains. They have also somehow managed to acquire a certain cool “kerb-side” appeal, well worth exploring.
