1974 Triumph Stag 3.0L V8 (original engine) For Sale
1974 Triumph Stag (nick-named ‘Stella’) in Mimosa Yellow with the original 3.0l Triumph V8 that’s done 68,400 miles, with both soft-top and hard-top options. She was bought in 2010 and had £4,500 of work done to it in 2011 by Faversham Classics, this included (and I have the receipts):
Replacement of crankshaft, all bearings and timing chain;
Conversion to electronic ignition;
New radiator and cooling;
New brake master cylinder;
Replacement of fuel, breather and cooling hoses;
New engine mounts.
When we inherited it we spent a further £3,000 in 2014 with the work being undertaken by Yorkshire Triumphs in Goole (again I have the receipt). This work included:
Brand new mohair hood and frame reconditioning;
Wide bore stainless steel exhaust;
Halogen head lights;
Replacement of universal joints;
New windscreen washer bottle and pump.
In 2018 & 19 a further £1,300 has been spent on:
New sun visors
New trim on B-Pillars
Replaced front brake pads (including shims and calipers have been cleaned) and rear brake shoes replaced
Boot catch replaced
Gearbox serviced (new ATF and gaskets)
New coolant bottle
It’s a great car to drive but since 2014, we’ve only managed to do just over 500 miles in her, so we really need this car to go to someone who can lavish more time and attention on her, and more importantly use her more regularly. It has the wind breaker, original jack, a modern bluetooth stereo. The chrome pieces on the hard top need re-attaching (I have them all) and there’s a rip in the front passenger seat (see photo).
This is not a concours car, it has 45 year old patina but I’ve been told by the mechanics at Northern Stag Centre that it’s a good, usable example and is mechanically sound. The hard top comes with it’s own storage trolley also.
I have lots of receipts going back to the early 1980’s right up to the work we had done over the last 5 years. I also have lots of old MOT certificates as well. The car is road-tax and MOT exempt.
I’m comfortable that this is priced fairly for what is an increasingly rare and appreciating classic car. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or would like to come and take a look at her.
