1965 Riley Elf Racecar - now sold For Sale

I am selling my Riley Elf and returning to my ‘home’ which is Triumph TRs.

I have finished building this Riley Elf and it is ready to race.

I was building the car for myself but my return to racing Triumph TRs causes this sale.

It is built to a very high specification with many quality parts supplied by Swiftune, KAD and MED.

It has a 1293cc engine producing 90bhp at the wheels at 7000 RPM. The bottom end is a balanced Cooper S crank and rods with slipper pistons. There is a steel flywheel and competition clutch and a 649 camshaft. There is a large valve Brian Stark big valve head. The recently rebuilt (by Burlen) H4 carbs sit on a new Maniflow inlet manifold. The exhaust manifold and system are also supplied by Maniflow. The braking system, including Cooper S discs is new. There is a brand new Motalita steering wheel.

This is all sat on a dog box and Quaife 3. 9:1 LSD and Cooper S output shafts. Gears are changed with a KAD quickshift.

As already stated, there are a number of components from Swiftune and MED including fuel tank, engine breathing system, oil cooler and hoses and much more.

The car now has a bespoke wiring loom fitted, brand new race seat and six point harness. The plumbed in fire extinguisher is from Lifeline. There is a full set of Stack instruments. The windscreen is laminated glass and all other windows are polycarbonate. The roll cage is manufactured by Safety Devices. The race seat is from Cobra and there is a matching newly recovered set of rear seats and front seats as required by HRDC.

The car is road legal and sits on a new set of minilites wearing Yokohama 008 rubber. There is an additional new set of 6 minilite wheels waiting for new Dunlop L section race tyres, or your chosen race tyres.

You can see from the photos that the body is in fantastic condition structurally and paint wise.

I know that this phrase ‘ready to race’ usually means something rather different, but this car really is ready to race.

The car is eligible to race at Goodwood, or with the HRDC, HSCC, CSCC, U2TC and other clubs.

If you have any questions or would like to see the car or discuss a purchase, please do not hesitate to contact me.

This car and the full package of spares including quality 11 stud blocks and cylinder heads, race circuit spares and parts to maintain between races really. I am open to sensible offers for the full package.
