1984 BMW R80 GS Paris-Dakar No Reserve For Sale by Auction
For sale in our forthcoming auction in Paris, on 27 october 2019
Launched in May 1980, the BMW R80 G/S (for "Gelande / Strasse" as in "off-road and road use") is the machine that revolutionized the world of trail-bikes. The R80 G/S goes beyond the Japanese single-cylinder in terms of performance and road capabilities. BMW will also seek glory at the Paris-Dakar, an event that fascinates a lot of people at the time. Hubert Auriol's victories (1981 and 1983) and those of Gaston Rahier (1984 and 1985) gives back the flat-twin its noble reputation. BMW takes advantage of this craze to launch the "Paris-Dakar" version, equipped in particular with a large 32 liter tank and numerous specific parts. With a mileage of only 937 km which are most likely to be original, this barely used R80 G/S "Paris-Dakar" is a rare opportunity to dive back into the madness of the 1980s. As a particularly reliable and pleasant motorcycle to use, it becomes impossible to find an example in such a beautiful original condition today.
We are very proud to present this very moving collection. All the motorcycles reflect a man's passion for different brands and generations of two-wheelers. The ones that made him dream as a child in the 1940s and 1950s, as well as those he enjoyed riding, such as the BMWs and Guzzis. The original condition and low mileage of most of the motorcycles of the collection will certainly catch the attention of demanding collectors.
We inform buyers that the entire collection consists of motorcycles that were, for the most part, left unused for years in a private museum. They are therefore sold as they are and are to be restored and/or recommissioned.
We advise all potential buyers to check the file of each motorcycle to obtain all information regarding the registration process in their countries.
Auction estimate: €12 000 / 15 000 - Without reserve price
