1968 Triumph TR5 2.5L with Lucas Mechanical Fuel Injection For Sale
Only 2, 947 were ever produced and as so few remain which were built for the UK rather than the TR250 that was for export. It is sure to carry on appreciating as they have done over the last five years. It looks fantastic and drives exactly as it should.
The Triumph TR5 is a sports car built by the Triumph Motor Company in Coventry, England, between August 1967 and September 1968. This tremendous example was first registered in December 1968 meaning it is likely to be one of the later examples to be produced and is still to its original build specification. Standard equipment includes front disc brakes, rack and pinion steering and a four speed gearbox.
The TR5 roadster sports Triumph's powerful 2. 5-litre straight-6 engine, fitted with, the then ground breaking and much sought after, Lucas mechanical fuel-injection producing 150 bhp (110 kW). At the time, fuel injection was uncommon in road cars and Triumph claimed that it was the "First British production sports car with petrol injection”.
This car has been through a full “nut and bolt” restoration completed in 2016 along with a complete bare metal respray in Royal Blue and a re-trimmed cream leather interior. The chrome work on the car has also been restored to a high specification and adds a lovely finishing touch to a beautiful classic British sports car. The car has been stored indoors since its restoration, is in great condition having had very little use since completion. The car will be supplied with a fresh MOT when purchased
We at Cotswold Classic Car Restorations can arrange and organise all shipping and transport details as well as offering advice on maintenance and getting the most out of owning such a rare and beautiful piece of history.
