In case you're wondering what the difference is between a Toyota Soarer Z40 and a Lexus SC430 the answer is that they're the same cars but were sold as Soarers in Japan (until 2001) and Lexus SC430 elsewhere.
The first time I drove this car into our local car wash the staff stopped what they were doing and stared. "What a beautiful car" said the boss, and they went about their business, casting the odd admiring glance and exchanging comments with each other. That's what you get with this car.
You don't see many of them, especially the Z40, so they get attention anyway. But this one's absolute eye candy with its pearlescent white paintwork and lovely tan and walnut interior.
It's also a very, very good mechanical and electrical example too. It had a major service and replacement of the cambelt because, being an import, I didn't know when it was last done. In the event, the existing belt was good, but I replaced it anyway the work having been done to get at the belt.
The work was done by Japex Automotive and the manager/owner commented on what a good example this car is. You can tell by the exterior and interior condition, the cleanliness of the engine bay, the condition of the alloys, the fact that everything works except the sliding wooden fascia for the touchscreen satnav, but that's fixable. The satnav is Japanese so doesn't work outside Japan. Most people use Google maps these days anyway.
Other imperfections include a very minor indent in the paintwork (no cracking), presumably caused by someone being less than careful with their door.
One small piece of window rubber on the offside rear quarter is slightly loose. It makes no difference to the operation of the window or roof.
The sound system works fine but bear in mind that Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) car radios operate on a narrow frequency range so you only get Radio 2. The easy way around this is the little bluetooth transmitter I fitted that means you can play any media you like from your 'phone and it comes out nice and clear from the car's hifi.
This car is also hardwired for a front and rear dashcam and has parking sensors.
The car is a delight to drive. Its steel exhaust note is indicative of the 4.3 V8 sitting under the bonnet. It's not a large car and its power to weight ratio makes it agile and fast. I like to use the semi box over the brakes when negotiating twisting stretches of road. The engine drives as is did when it came out of the factory. Any inspection will show how well-looked after it is and has been. It's only just reached 81000 miles (or 130k in km) and has years of life left.
The retractable hard top roof works perfectly every time. A beautiful summer drive but the hard top also means it's warm in winter. Always remember to have nothing in the boot when operating the roof.
The leather interior oozes quality, nicely complemented by the Soarer carpeting and walnut fascia trim. The front seats are really comfortable. The steering wheel is a really nice feature with its polished wood and leather insets.

The rare Soarer alloys are in very good condition. Two have faint evidence of minor kerbing but you'd have to look for it to see it. The tyres were replaced upon import and have loads of tread.
This is a 4-seater, but you'd have to have very small or very tolerant people in the back as legroom is minimal. It works perfectly as a 2 person sports cruiser.
These cars are appreciating in value, not diminishing. Drive it daily, or at weekends or store it and watch your money grow a bit every year.
The private plate is NOT included, although I'll consider offers for it.
This is a future classic in very good condition, with the 'right' interior & exterior combination, low mileage & very recent cambelt change and full service. You can pay a lot more than I'm asking for a car that's just as good as this from certain well-known importers.
