For sale is my 1993 Rover Mini Rio
Ive owned this car for just under a year having always wanted to own a Mini, it’s mainly been my weekend car and have only done about 2000 miles since the last mot.
I’ve had lots fun roaming around Devon and Cornwall but another project has come along and I feel it’s time to let her go.
The Rio model is a limited run of 750 cars with this being the rarest coloured one, it benefits from having a 1275 carb engine and this little engine pulls really well and has never missed a beat. In the last 6 months I’ve replaced the battery, wiper motor, sorted the engine bay wiring, had the car serviced and the timing done, fitted mini fin brakes and a dab radio.
I have a folder of paper work for the car as well as every mot certificate, I’m happy to provide photos of anything you need to see.
The car passed it’s MOT 20/9/19 with only a few advisors, one of which (play in the steering rack) was fixed as it turned out to be a loose pinch bolt.
The bad/honest points on the car, the body work is starting to show it’s age, the boot has some peel and there’s rust starting to show on the car mainly on the D/S wing, windscreen area and in two corners of the roof, because of this the headlining was cut behind the sun visors to see what could be done and has been covered with tape.
The underside of the car is solid with some patch’s from years gone by but would benefit from being wax oiled before winter sets in.
The engine bay isn’t the tidiest and could do with a clean up, 2nd gear is hard to get in if your racing down the gears from 3rd, I myself have never noticed this as I drive like an old man and wait for the revs to drop if I’m changing down from 3rd quickly.
In my opinion this is a great car for someone who either wants to just keep it going as it is or restore it to how they want it, I wish I had the time to get it perfect and keep it forever but I feel it’s time to move on.
