1972 Rover P6 3500S 3.5 RPi Overhauled V8 Manual For Sale
For sale in this listing is what can only be described as an excellent example of a 1972 Rover P6. A gorgeous classic in every sense of the word, this Rover must be one of the best of the few examples left on the road, the previous owner having looked after it meticulously throughout his ownership. The car has had thousands spent on it over the years, with an RPi overhauled engine and overhauled four speed manual gearbox costing nearly £5000 - even before all the invoices for maintenance and upgrade work are taken into consideration. All the paperwork has been kept with the car, and included in the sale is a folder full of receipts, invoices and MOT certificates, as well as an original owners handbook.
This vehicle is for sale as RPi approved thanks to the volume of work we have done to the car, and is sold with a 6 month RPi classic car warranty.
The list of upgrades to the 3.5 RPi overhauled engine include a Weber 500 four-barrel carburettor, mounted on a JWR Offenhauser dual plane intake manifold. The ignition system has been upgraded to the RPi set up which includes an electronic distributor, A&R amplifier, 12-volt Bosch coil and a set of Magnecor ignition leads. These upgrades combined with the RPi overhauled engine make the car an absolute pleasure to drive with the perfect combination of quick throttle response, refined cruising, effortless in and out of town driving, and a subtle but unmistakable V8 engine note to round off the masterpiece. If you wished, you could very comfortably drive this car every day and experience no issues in starting or driving the car in any conditions. This P6 is also fitted with power steering, making it an even more pleasant car to drive.
The care and attention paid to the body and interior is just as thorough as it is to the engine. The previous owner, who lived just down the road from us at RPi Engineering, spared no expense in keeping this car in top condition.
Outside, the bodywork is simply stunning with the Cameron Green paintwork untouched by dents or scratches and the brightwork is free of pitting or signs of rust. The condition continues into the interior, which was recently refreshed with brand new carpets and the seats have been thoroughly cleaned and kept in excellent condition. The Webasto fabric sunroof allows you unlimited access to sky views and country air. The ride is absolutely sublime with unbelievable levels of comfort and absolutely no untoward noises from the suspension or drive train. It truly puts you in a world of your own where you can forget about the troubles of modern motoring.
It will be a shame not to continue seeing this car out on the roads locally to us as we have over the past few years, however the family of the previous owner (Fred, who sadly passed away last year) are looking to give the car a new home with someone who will love and care for it the same way Fred did. Of course, RPi would be delighted to continue maintaining the car as we have over the years too.
If you require any more information or wish to come and see just how good this car is in person, please do not hesitate to contact us. We can be contacted by email or by phone.
Having received a sympathetic nut and bolt restoration, completed in June 2018, this Rover has just been returned to the road. It is a beautiful example of the marque and retains much of its originality.....
Unique Rover 3500 P6 total rebuilt by RR CLASSIC. Rover 3.9ltr engine with Edelbrock/Weber. Original (new old stock) Abarth exhaust especially made for Rover 3500V8 with stunning sound. LT77 5-speed.....
This car was a barn find about 12 years ago which was the last time it was driven. The condition is very honest but a total rebuild would make it a concours winner.
History unknown but is an Australian.....
