This is an original factory black UK right hand drive car.
Built in October 1961, this is actually a 1962 model so benefits from mod cons such as a fuel gauge!
The car was ordered new from VW Motors London and delivered to European Automobiles VW dealership in Maidstone, Kent.
It was exported out to Tanzania in early 1962 as it's owner had taken a job there with the forestry commission. It remained there for 7 years before returning to the UK with the same owner in 1969.
The car remained in the original owner's hands until 1992 when he gave up driving.
The second owner purchased the car in 1992 with 48,000 miles on the clock. He decided to preserve the original low mileage engine and fitted a complete NOS 1200 engine he had available. Around this time the car had some restoration work and a respray.
Since 1992, the car has covered a further 8,500 miles and is now on 56,600 miles.
The original matching numbers engine is included in the sale.
There is a huge lever arch file of documentation going right back to the original invoice which shows the engine number and chassis number, showing that this is a matching numbers car.
The car is lovely to drive. Original UK right hand drive early sixties Beetles are getting hard to find these days. This is in the desirable classic factory black with red interior and ivory steering wheel.

The reason for sale is that I am thinning down my collection as I simply don't have time to use them all.
Good, honest oval Beetle with brand new interior. Fitted with later engine but original engine is beeing rebuilt and it's included in sale price. Body is rust free and paint is patinated. Side repeaters.....
