1985 Golf Mk1 Convertible-Barons Sandown Pk Sat 26th October 2019 For Sale by Auction
The VW Golf Cabriolet was sold from 1980 to 1993, and was built at Karmann. It had a reinforced body, transverse roll bar, and a high level of trim. The vinyl or cloth tops were heavily insulated and manually, or beginning in 1991, electrically, operated, with a heated glass rear window. The body of the Cabriolet did not change through the entire production run except for a larger fuel tank. In an attempt by Volkswagen to keep the car's styling current, all Cabriolets from 1988 on were fitted with a "Clipper" kit featuring smooth body-coloured bumpers, wheel-arch extensions, and side skirts.
This 1985 Volkswagen Golf 1.8 Convertible has been repainted with all ancillary stripped off to facilitate the repaint. The seats have been re-trimmed, a new hood has been supplied and fitted, togeather with a new hood bag. The engine has been serviced and all electrics checked, new fuel pipes have been fitted, a new fuel pump, and a new radiator. There is also a new exhaust on the car.
Volkswagen Golf Convertibles are experiencing a surge in demand, particularly the 1.8 litre versions. A really good car to enjoy, and treat as a possible investment.
Please note that this car was subject to a Category C insurance loss in 2002.
