We are delighted to offer this beautifully presented, rebuilt, Austin Healey 3000 MKI onto the market. Finished in its original colours of Ivory White and Black upholstery, this fine example is equipped with overdrive, chrome wire wheels and factory works hard top. 267 YUW was built on the 8th-11th April 1960, despatched on the 25th April and sold new in San Francisco. The car arrived in the UK in 2012 and has since undergone a comprehensive restoration that was finished to a beautiful standard in 2014.
The bodyshell is outstanding having been sandblasted, then rebuilt. The Austin Healey boasts first class structure, the chassis is exceptional, and the car has been beautifully re-painted and re-trimmed ensuring a top quality finish. The car also has a brand new soft top and frame. The underside of the vehicle is completely body colour and presents superbly. Panel gaps are impressive, the doors close perfectly, the panels are beautifully straight and the car has been nicely detailed with clean under arches, a smart engine bay and excellent chrome work throughout. The car was completed with all new rubbers, gaskets and various trims.
Mechanically the Healey is impressive. Receipts and condition confirm a major program of work has been carried out. The engine has been stripped and rebuilt with brand new pistons, main and big end bearings, re-ground crankshaft, re-profiled camshaft, new cam followers, new exhaust valves and all new bronze valve guides, competition spec crank pulley, new timing chain and pulley and on re-fit, the car treated to a new full clutch kit. The ignition system has been fully renewed, as has the cooling system and the car completely re-wired with brand new looms.
A full overhaul was carried out to include rebuilding and upgrading the braking system with uprated brake calipers, discs, pads, new servo, new master and slave cylinders, copper brake pipes, new handbrake cable, rear wheel cylinders, wheel bearings and further mechanical work included a new panhard rod assembly, aluminium fuel tank, new fuel pipes, high torque starter motor, new exhaust system, rebuilt steering box, rebuilt king pins, new top trunnion bearings and anti-roll bar bushes. Many new bushes, cables, hoses, pipes, switches replaced, all documented with thousands of pounds worth of invoices.
Since completion the Healey has covered between 700 and 1000 miles and comes to us driving superbly. The six cylinder rebuilt engine pulls superbly through the gears, offers impressive performance, correct oil pressure and cooling, and sounds fabulous with a lovely exhaust note. The gearbox has excellent syncro's, the overdrive kicks in and out smoothly and with rebuilt steering, brakes and suspension it handles perfectly well. This is a great looking car with an impressive stance and finish and on the road its as equally impressive. Its quick, sharp, strong and lots of fun offering reliable touring having had a restoration that would cost well in excess of our asking price of this beautiful rebuilt Healey 3000.
