I bought this recently for a little nostalgia trip, having owned six BMW E30s in various guises previously over the years. The previous owner had owned the car for over 20 years and had kept it garaged overnight all that time.He had the car adapted for hand controls due to a disability.I have had the controls removed although the steering wheel cowling still needs replacing. There is a new one in the boot I just haven't had it done as yet.
There are a couple of scrapes on the bumpers and the paint has also suffered a few knocks from a wheelchair, the lower offside rear looks like it has been painted previously and could do with repainting to make perfect.
Overall the car looks great with no rust.
The car has been extremely well cared for mechanically. The previous owner has had the car serviced annually at the same garage(currently the Skoda main agent in Bolton) even though the annual mileage was often only around a thousand miles..The oil in the sump looks exceptionally clean. He has also had the automatic gearbox oil changed regularly and had frequent cam belt changes, the last being at 90000 miles.
The car has electric windows and mirrors along with power steering. It has the original Blaupunkt Bristol head unit with fully working electric aerial.
The car has an MOT until July 2020.There are folders containing 26 of the 27 previous MOTs and also over 20 paper invoices for the services and any other remedial work that has been required.
There are two main keys and one valet type key. There is no alarm on the car.The keys work the central locking and all doors and boot can be used to lock/unlock.
Overall I think you would be hard pressed to find a nicer example,it could certainly be used daily if that is what you wanted. It would be a shame to see it used as a donor car for it's shell and a shame to see it messed about with although a set of original cross spoke BBS alloys would look great.
I had intended keeping it for a while but I don't think I'll honestly get around to clearing my garage and it would be a shame to leave it exposed to the elements after all these years. The car gets lots of attention as you simply don't see many on the road these days.
I have made a short walk around video and uploaded it to YouTube.Search Noj1966 E30 316i to find it. Cheers
