With a heavy heart I am selling my project and first car of 11 years.
This is quite a rare chance to get a restoration project where most of the bodywork has been done.
The body is solid, the doors shut nicely, its been primed or red lead painted where appropriate... It just needs finishing off!
Grab a cuppa, there's plenty to read!
First Registered January 1966.
V5 with the car, stated as 850 in blue with correct engine and chassis/vin numbers.
Door, boot and ignition keys included.
3 Owners from new, first was a lady owner (found lipstick & hair pins in the dashboard!) then a trader, then me in August 2008.
Off the road since 1987, tax disk in window still.
83322 Miles on the clock, believed genuine.
Original interior, wheels, and engine plus... well, most of the cars parts!
Nearly all original parts removed from the car are included, mostly photographed (some were beyond repair).
Engine was heard running in 2009 before its removal, sounded great! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQmct-jwOwU)
Many new parts and new-old stock are included in the sale, again mostly photographed.
About £1500-2000 has been spent on parts and panels, most receipts have been kept.
Full new luxury carpet set from Newton Commercial purchased around 2010 in a similar blue to the car, still unopened.
Also some parts have already been refurbished and painted.
The hydrolastic subframes look to have been replaced just before the car was stored in '87. Only surface rust is present!
The body has been respectfully restored by me over 7 years (09-16) keeping much of the original metal.
Very little bodywork needs doing. Just tidying up, welding/lead loading/(filling, ugh) small gaps and mounting brackets before paint.
A modified front end with clamshell style bonnet mounted wings is 50% complete.
It would be about the same amount of work to put the bonnet & wings back standard as it would to complete, so its your choice!
This front end is just bolted on at the moment so will remove easily if you require, but aligns well if you want to weld & finish it.
Hydrolastic suspension is not included as it was completely shot and collapsed, it wouldn't pump up anymore!
Otherwise all parts that were removed from the car are with it! (Except for the heater, I can't find it for some reason...)
A memory stick with years of pictures of project progress will be included so you can see how much has been done!
The A-frames are included if you want them.
Located in Halifax, and the yard is easy to get a flatbed van or lorry down to load the mini onto.
Forklift and hoist on site too so should be a simple job.
Reason for sale? I can't justify keeping and finishing it as I've moved on from the idea of a mini.
I need a bigger more practical and comfier motor to build, to take me and my keyboards to gigs travelling on motorways.
It just so happens that a Reliant Scimitar is soon to be in my possession and that fits the bill perfectly!
There's probably more to go through but that'll about do it for now.
I took over 180 photos so if you want to see anything in more detail I probably have a photo of it!
Basically it is a great example of a great car having had a great amount of work done with a great load of original and new parts included.
It is well worth the asking price for the amount of bodywork carried out and how original it is.
Any questions please ask!
