The muscular silhouette of the 964 Turbo is instantly recognisable, finished in a fantastic deep black, the iconic flared rear arches and huge whale tail spoiler create a truly menacing ensemble.
The coachwork presents with a particular brilliance across its surface, especially here under our studio lights. The car was subject to an exterior restoration in December 2012, re-coated in its factory colour of Black / A1A1, at a cost of over 10k by a Porsche certified paint specialist which is covered by a Porsche lifetime guarantee.
Exterior trim is also in remarkable condition; the rubbers and plastics show soft and supple, encasing unmarked glass and lights with wonderful original texture, shape and colour. The sunroof appears clean and tidy, operating with a smooth action and sealing correctly.
The interior of the 964 is simple but effective, a monochrome scheme of light grey leather, black piping and black carpets it compliments the coachwork of the car beautifully. The deeply bolstered sports offer plenty of support and show very little signs of wear, especially considering the cars age. The grey leather spans to the door cards and rear seats, which give the cabin a bright and spacious feel.
A Porsche sports steering wheel sits in front of the usual instrument cluster, giving a more purposeful, driver focused feel to the cars interior. The standard Airbag wheel will also be included in the sale for any purists seeking a factory finish.
The Becker Radio Nav allows classic vehicles with an analogue past to enjoy a digital future, equipped with Bluetooth and navigation it allows drivers to enjoy the classic aesthetics with modern tech.
The rear bench appears untouched whilst the carpet set retains a deep pile texture and feel with genuine over mats in front offering further protection.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 3.6 shares the same KKK turbocharger, including the whale-tail-mounted intercooler, as the 3.3 but re-calibration increases maximum boost to 13.1 psi. An extra 300cc of exhaust gas blowing on the same impeller spools it up at lower revs, making full boost available at 3500 rpm. With resulting torque now spread evenly over the rev range the car is much more tractable; given the power is more accessible the car now feels quicker and more exploitable.
No expense has been spared in the maintenance of this engine, with a history so thorough it is now on its second service book, it was fully rebuilt around 6,000 miles ago at a cost of nearly £21K.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Speedline and Porsche, a beautiful relationship that began with the 17 inch CUP wheel available on the 964 RS. The wheel manufacturer went a step further with the 3.6 and then the 993 RS – split rims with a polished lip. This 18? set are in good condition with only a few signs of lacquer degradation around the bolts, with the rims showing no curb marks or scuffs. Tyres are nearly new Pirelli P Zero Rosso’s at all four corners.
Brakes show cleanly, with no lip or corrosion and pull the car up strongly.
This 964 Turbo is a UK car, first delivered by Lancaster Bow on 24/09/1993 and has been with its current owner since 2010.
The service history file is truly comprehensive; there are 24 stamps in the original service book with a further second book issued after its last service, on 23/02/2018 at 90,141 miles, to continue logging any future maintenance. Alongside the two service books there is also a huge stack of invoices present which outline almost all major works the car has been subject to since 2001 and MOT history dating back to 1998.
The original leather Porsche wallet, complete with the original book pack is also included with the car as well as 2 keys.
An exceptionally well documented and maintained example of one of Porsche’s most iconic cars.
