1999 MR2 Roadster VVT-i 16 valve, Japanese import For Sale
Although the car is a 1999 example it was imported into the UK from Japan in 2001. The car’s had just three owners since 2001. The first from 2001 to 2007, the second from 2007 until I bought the car early this year. So it’s had just the three owners since 2001.
PAS, remote central locking, electric windows, electric mirrors, air conditioning, CD, factory alloys.
The last MOT expired in April 2014. The car has been in storage / off the road since then.
The car is not MOT’d. If you Google “mot check online” you will see what the car failed it’s MOT on last month. It needs NO WELDING. The body and the paintwork is sound. I understand the colour is a very rare one that was not available on UK supplied cars.
With regards to the MOT failure the engine management light was on but this has now been sorted. The headlight beam on both headlights was obscured by “heavy fogging” but I thoroughly cleaned both headlights and they are fine now. The handbrake was not working to the required standard on both sides. I’ve been told that the left and right handbrake cables need to be replaced. The right front sidelight is not working (a bulb). Although the car passed the first part of the emissions test the second part of the test, the “fast idle test” could not be done. The engine is running to fast. I’ve been told that it’s taking in air somewhere / that there is a potential problem with the air flow meter. So hence this part of the emissions test could not be done.
The engine is absolutely sound. It sounds fine, very nice in fact. The car starts on the button and drives fine with no shakes, rattles or anything untoward. I fitted a brand new battery in May at a cost of £80.
So overall it doesn’t need a great deal of work to get the MOT. It’s far too good break and I certainly won’t break it.
Road tax is £265 p.a. or £145.75 for six months. The car is currently SORN’d. I have no service history.
The car has to go. Give me a call.
