2011 ASTON MARTIN CYGNET, 36.000 Km since new For Sale

- Tailor-fit for the city - Just 36,000 Kms since new - According to a vehicle database, only 600 Cygnets are registered in the Uk which makes it a rarer sight on the road than both the DB5 and DB6 - To some, the Cygnet is a piece of Aston history and many see the Cygnet as a future classic in the making, thanks to its uniqueness and rarity World’s rarest city car???? The Aston Martin Cygnet story… Elegant and distinctive whilst individual and practical. The Aston Martin Cygnet was designed as a luxury solution to urban mobility. An extension to Aston Martin’s range of acclaimed luxury sports cars, the Cygnet was produced at Aston Martin’s Gaydon headquarters from 2011 to 2013. The Cygnet was conceived, designed and built as a true Aston Martin. Including the many synonymous design cues featured across the model range including authentic zinc side-strakes, distinctive bonnet meshes, iconic grille and the legendary badge In its rich 103-year history, Aston Martin has never built a car quite as divisive as the Cygnet. With a tiny 97bhp 1.33-litre engine, the small city car certainly lacked the headline figures normally associated with the manufacturer when it made its debut as an opinion-splitting concept at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. While it was controversial, it also offered something different, and it wasn’t much of a surprise when bosses confirmed the Cygnet for production in 2011. So why did Aston want to build a car with sales targets of just 4,000 a year? Firstly, there were EU laws. Fleet emissions targets were introduced in 2012, and without a parent company to offer more eco-friendly cars to balance out the averages, it was up to Aston to reduce its CO2 figures across the model range. Basing a car on Toyota’s frugal iQ made sense. Secondly, Aston wanted to attract a new group of customers to the brand, as well as offering existing owners something that was more suited to life in the city rather than speeding along the open road. To some, the Cygnet is a piece of Aston history and many see the Cygnet as a future classic in the making, thanks to its uniqueness and rarity. According to a vehicle database, just 600 Cygnets are registered in the UK; that makes it a rarer sight on the road than both the DB5 and DB6. Something curious… Workers at the brand’s Gaydon HQ in Warks spent 150 hours building each Cygnet – the DB9 only took 200 hours – and it’s the smallest, lightest Aston ever made. Like Aston Martin’s larger and faster offerings, each Cygnet is hand crafted by a team of artisans at Aston’s Gaydon factory, including a paint technician, a paint supervisor, a seat builder, various assembly technicians, a trim lead, a customer acceptance technician and a production supervisor. To have a good impression how the Cygnet is built, please look at this movie. The Toyota products, on the other hand, are clabbered together in automated factories, by robots, and don’t use the same quality of materials or hand-built craftsmanship that go into the Cygnet. The name Cygnet is very nicely chosen as it means young swan. It is the smallest swan from the family but already beautiful. ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC EXAMPLE We are personally completely in love with Aston Martin and definitely also with the Cygnet. We bought our Cygnet some time ago and use the car almost on a daily base in Amsterdam. The response on the car is fantastic. Everybody likes the unique car but more important, the Aston is very easy to use and drives impressively well. This specific Cygnet beautiful Aston Martin Cygnet has only covered 36.000 kilometer and it is in an as new condition. The Aston shows absolutely no signs of the usual wear. CONDITION INTERIOR The interior of the Aston is probably the most impressive part of the car. It is made with the highest quality materials. If you enter the car it is an oase of very soft (handbag quality) leather and alcantara. The Cygnet is filled with hand-stitched leather, the roof lining is made from Alcantara even as small details such as the base of the seats. Around the center panel, every single detail is in very soft leather. Believe it or not, the Cygnet uses as many leather hides as a DB9. It is difficult to explain but if you open for the first time the door of a Cygnet you immediately understand the uniqueness of the interior of the Cygnet. DRIVING EXPERIENCE As described above, we use a Cygnet on daily bas, something we wouldn’t have dared to do with our other Aston Martins. The car is driving so extremely well. The handling is just perfect and the car is rather fast. It’s easy to drive, it’s reliable and easy to maintain. Other road users and pedestrians also love it; they come and talk to you about it and want to find out more. It’s definitely staying in our permanent collection. With good residuals and a rarity factor, we think the Cygnet is beginning to acquire status as a collectible item and is on the way to becoming a collectible that investors will compete over in years to come when building their ultimate Aston garage.
