This is a rare and lovely example of what was a top of the range executive car back in 1976.
She is finished in period Russet Brown with complimenting cloth interior.
The Triumph is now tax and MOT exempt, though it has a current MOT until August 2020; this showed no advisories.
The car is fitted with the Borg Warner 65 automatic gearbox, 6 cylinder engine with long branch inlet manifold and SU HS6 carbs producing 106bhp.
She is fitted with a full stainless steel exhaust, new track rod ends, electronic ignition, new radiator and fan, and a modified oil filter.
The car is in excellent condition, having had a quality re-spray some years ago. It retains a beautiful shine and has clearly been well cared for. I can find no rust or bubbling anywhere on the car. The chrome bumpers are presentable, but do show some pitting/deterioration now.
This model came with Stag style alloys, which have been re-furbished in the past and are in excellent condition, as are the tyres.
The interior is in very good condition for its age, with no damage to the upholstery. Everything is very original, including the Motorola radio which still works well! The wood door cappings have suffered over time and do need re-furbishing. The laminated windscreen has a chip on the passenger side.
This is an incredibly original car that should give the new owner a great deal of pleasure. I have the original reflective number plates for the car, though the front plate has suffered from stones over the years!
The Triumph was owned by the Nuffield Trust and was a chauffeur driven for the first seven years of its life. The car was then gifted to the chauffeur on his retirement, and remained with him until 2009 when he passed away. It stayed in his family with his daughter in storage until 2013 when it passed to a new owner. I purchased the car this summer but sadly owing to health issues am unable to give it the use it deserves.
The Triumph has a folder tracing its history back and a full narrative of its purchase and life, with many past MOTs and log books. There are also photos of the car at the Queen's Garden Party, and a copy of the owner's invitation from the Queen.
After the shortcomings of the poor handling MK1, the MK2 was a far superior proposition and a great drivers car with its silky smooth six-cylinder, long-legged overdrive.
