1934 Lagonda M45 Earls Court Show Coupe by Brainsby Woolard.
Registration Number: 266UXR
Chassis number: Z10916
A spectacular one off M45 Lagonda bodied by John Charles to a design by Brainsby Woolard as an aerodynamic 2 door coupe. This car took pride of place on the Lagonda stand at the 1934 Earls Court motor show.
The car has undergone a nut & bolt restoration to bring it to the flawless condition we find it in today. Exterior paint is unmarked solid black as when it was new. To the interior is tan Analine leather hide to all the seating surfaces along with matching Wilton carpets. All woodwork has been removed & refinished. The dashboard comes festooned with a full compliment of the requisite period instrumentation.
The car is currently on Italian papers but comes also with its original UK buff log book. The car features in “Lagonda – An illustrated history” by Geoffrey Seaton.
The M45 engine is in super condition having been fully rebuilt & makes for a fast stylish car in the tradition of Les Grandes Routiers of the '30's. The interior is surpisingly spacious given the low front roofline & letter box style windscreen giving it a slightly "Blue Train" like appearance from the front. The chassis is standard M45 fare with very effective servo assisted brakes. Andre Hartofrd telecontrol shock absorbers are also fitted.
On the day of our visit it was pouring rain so we will have to wait 'til a later date for a better set of photographs. The car comes with a current Fiva card & is certain to be well received at any concours events it is entered into. In November it won Best of Show at the 2019 Milano Autoclassica car Show.
