1955 AUSTIN A30 2-DOOR - DELIGHTFUL INSIDE AND OUT! For Sale
HERE is a really lovely little Austin A30 2-door in grey with a beautiful red interior. This delightful old girl had been dry stored for at least a decade when I unearthed her in the early part of this year (2019). I then sold her to a customer of mine who is a genuine enthusiast and loves to re-commission classics. He spent several months working on her before returning it to me recently in part-exchange for another classic which he plans to lift to another level during the winter months.
When I sold it to him, it had emerged from a bone dry hibernation and, on the plus side, had a fantastic underside, great floors and superb sills. The sills were (are) so good in fact that I would suggest that they must have been replaced shortly prior to the car being stored. Now she is back on the road and I will list just some of the things that have helped to improve her in the past few months. Dynamo replaced, speedo cable replaced, stainless steel lined master cylinder and new wheel cylinders and hoses, water pump and thermostat housing replaced, new headlamp buckets and loom to lights, new headlining, 4 new tyres, sump removed and cleaned, oil and filter change. Door panels replaced with classic fabric, engine bay cleaned and block painted BMC green.
He also reported that the front springs looked to be new and that now everything works - even the interior light!
This is such a pretty little A30 and, as an extra bonus, the V5 states that she has an 848 (850) engine fitted which of course is an improvement on the original 803. She is a perky little driver and she moves very smoothly through the gears. Nothing to do to the old girl now. Just enjoy her.
She is not a new car, nor is she a three-year-old used car. She is a piece of antique motoring history and, as such will have quirks and maybe even the odd fault. Anyway, she is what she is. These old gems - in this case almost 65-years-old - are sold as seen. Should you buy without viewing, then she is sold on the basis of the advertisement you have read the photos, or extra photos, you have seen as well with the assistance of any answers to questions you have received from me. Treat these classics with the respect they deserve and make sure they have love, time and effort lavished on them. Even the very best need permanent on going care. Practically all will have undergone a degree of restoration work or improvement at some stage. If it's a three-year-old car dating from the 1960s that you are after, then you are out of luck. Short of acquiring a Tardis that is.
Anyway, thanks for reading. I am here to answer any questions you may have and, remember, that I also provide a delivery service. Martin (07595-020282)
