1974 Citroen DS23 Pallas RHD - Fully Restored REDUCED For SaleThis car is a Citroen DS23 Pallas with right hand drive steering. This DS23 was assembled by Car Distributors in South Africa - as were the likes of several European based factory cars in those days, to overcome punitive Import Duties of the period. Intrinsically, the engine and gearbox were separately crated, and was the interior, baring which these cars were in effect fully manufactured at the DS Plant in France. She was a one owner, inland residing car from new until 2014, having belonged to a wheat and cereals farmer and used as his “go to Church Sunday driven car” that was otherwise always garaged out of the dry humidity sunshine and ozone free environment conditions. The new owner shortly after acquisition, commissioned the best SA Citroen Specialist workshop to conduct a “ground-up nuts & bolts restoration” of the entire car. Based upon the fact that there was no rust issues apparent at the outset and later substantiated when every outer body panel including the roof were unbolted, the entire engine, transmission and other running gear, all glass and any type of electrical fitting, and the entire interior was stripped from the car. Apart from media blasting the entire frame and underbody was repainted, with all outer shell “body panels” rubbed-down to ensure no imperfections, followed by primer and many top coats of lustre gleaming pale Lilac metallic paint that is beautifully offset by the new period correct vinyl roof in Black. The entire interior reupholstered in new Grey Leather and new insulation padding and Carpeting per original throughout, including the boot area and under-bonnet insulation. The entire interior roof headlining and other panels also replaced including sun visors. The entire hydro-pneumatic suspension totally replaced with new components, new imported Michelin tyres (5) period correct, new brakes, new fuel and hydraulic lines, new and/or refurbished ancillary components, and new light fittings and lenses. The overall restoration completed with a fully stripped and rebuilt engine and gearbox including new radiator and clutch. Since completed at the end of 2016, the car has only done running-in usage and rechecking everything once again. The price includes every cost to transport deliver to port, the entire export documentation procedure, a shared 2-Car Sea Container shipment from Cape Town to London Gateway complete with Total Loss & Comprehensive Insurance by LLOYDS while In-Transit, all UK landed Clearing and Collection charges and of course the HMRC Import VAT. Then the car will get a new UK MoT (even if not required) and obtain the DVLA Registration in your name and License, complete with period BLACK License Plate number. In effect, the car is then ready to collect, just insure the car and drive her home from nearby Cambridge.
