1960 Daimler sp250 dart 3 owners history concourse For Sale
This is a remarkable two owner Daimler Dart SP250 with heritage certificate and history file in superb condition. 6516 el was registered and supplied new by Spink Motors, Daimler House, Poole Rd, Bournemouth on 2 May 1960 to a Mr N Alsop, who kept it for almost 50 years until 2009! (nb this is probably the longest original ownership ever recorded for one of these cars) after Mr Alsop passed away, it was sold to a Mr Aldo Salvade who had a small collection of classic cars in Tuscany Italy, before returning to the UK in 2018. While in Italy the car had comprehensive engine overhaul. There are formal letters on file which confirm a new clutch assembly and gearbox overhaul were also carried out, together with ancillaries such as a water pump and brake pads. MOT records from 1999 to 2019 confirm the car has covered only 9000 miles in the last 20 years. The original 1960’s paintwork was refurbished on the car's return to the UK in 2018, when it received a a full doors off, screen off strip down, re-prime and re-paint by a top class bodyshop. In some areas the chrome was aged and all brightwork was been re-chromed. The paintwork is now as new. Any minor imperfections have been thoroughly and professionally rectified, with a detailed story book image of the various stages of the job. The new chrome now fully complements the Jaguar Carmen Red paintwork. The black hood is in excellent condition having replaced any failed poppers on the vehicle and on the hood itself. It comes with a tonneau cover in good condition and an all important factory hard top which has also been refurbished in black to the same standard as the rest of the vehicle. the interior is in remarkable condition, free from rips, tears, scuffs or signs of wear. It’s hard to imagine it is the original ‘60’s interior, but it could well be judging by the nature of it. The dash, switches, and steering wheel are all in very good condition as is the whole interior As mentioned above, the engine and gearbox are excellent The engine fires first and settles well, idling cleanly. When you blip the throttle that V8 just comes alive! On the road, the car drives very well with the evocative V8 sound. The chassis is the original and in excellent condition with no evidence or ever having had any damage or rust repairs. Also the MOT history files going back to the ‘90’s have no mention of any problems. For your own peace of mind you can refer to the DVLA’s on-line records going back for 15 years where there is no mention or advisory for repairs to the chassis. There is an advisory on slight play in the steering box, but this is not noticeable on the road and some wear is to be expected of a 60 year old car. The 5 matching chrome wire wheels, tyres and fitments have covered very little miles and no expenditure is required. The car also has a stainless steel exhaust and new battery this is an unusually fine example of a Daimler Dart which has no issues, has a well sorted engine and transmission and has had a top class refurbishment which has restored this iconic British sports car to its former glory.
