Bought as a 21st birthday present on August 27th 1967, this remarkable example has been with the same owner until purchased by his neighbour when he passed away. During that time it has travelled less than 30,000 miles and been kept in original condition.
The Healey was wax oiled from new and cherished by the owner until he married and started a family. He re-wax oiled the car all over and put it into a well ventilated, heated, dark garage under his house in 1980. The car has not been taxed since this date and was MOT’d locally in 1984 when the recorded mileage was 29,074.
The car is a time warp and exactly as it left the factory, with the exception of new sills fitted in 1984. The spare tyre (a Dunlop Road Speed R55) is unused and the four road tyres are late seventies Michelin XAS in excellent condition.
The interior trim has the famous Mk III ‘chrome’ piping, and as the car has been stored with the roof up, out of the sunlight and in the ventilated dark garage the whole of the interior and the hood are just like new.
When the current owner bought the car last March he had it transported to a garage to be recommissioned. This included:
• fuel system recommissioned, with rebuilt carburettors, a Filter King and an electronic fuel pump
• ignition system totally replaced
• brakes totally overhauled with new discs, calipers, slave and master cylinders, new servo and new hoses
• cooling system flushed and all hoses replaced
• a new exhaust system
• wax oil removed from bodywork, revealing near perfect paintwork
The car is now safe and reliable and has covered a further 160 miles since this work was carried out.
The current owner has known the car from new and has all the history the family could find including the original invoice, the last MOT and invoice, the original driver’s handbook and a workshop manual. The history file also includes invoices for the recent work and a Heritage Certificate.
The Healey’s current mileage is 29,281 and this must represent one of the most original examples available on the market today.
