The most interesting document included with this car is its original manufacturing file. It states that it was fitted with Borgo pistons, reinforced push rods, Zenith carburetors, a ZF gearbox, a Gemmer steering gear, Bendix Lockheed brakes, painted wired wheels in aluminium and comfort-wise, it included heating-defrosting, two suitcases and a radiator curtain. The "inner sports drive" was painted in "Metaliose" grey 890 and the interior upholstery was in Griffin grey 705. Furthermore, it had aluminium elements known as "Speciale" which was dedicated to the model's most sporty examples. This same document states that the car was delivered on 28 February 1956 to a Mr Longe, its first owner. Thanks to information from the vibrant Talbot club, we therefore have a list of its different owners.
This Talbot coupe was located around Lyon in 1981 and in 2008, it was passed into the hands of a collector from Isere who then sold it to the current owner, a passionate collector possessing one of the most beautiful collection of pre-war French cars. As this car was in matured and used condition, it was consequently decided to bring it back to life with a high-quality restoration, made possible by an extensive research prior to the work. It was carried out by GT Label near Lille, workshop known for its work on rare cars. The car was completely stripped down, with the engine and bodywork redone, as evidenced by invoices worth over €100, 000 included in the file. The attention to detail and adjustments illustrate the high quality of the work carried out.
With its very beautiful Carlo Delaisse design and its 2. 5-litre Talbot engine, this Talbot was at that time over double the price than the Citroen DS which had just came out. Only 54 units were manufactured. In its gorgeous colour taken from a competing model produced the same year, as well as its rarity and exclusivity, this example is in a condition portraying a sense of luxury and anachronistic refinement of the 1950s in France.
Estimation 260 000 - 320 000 €
