1959 Jaguar XK150 3.4

57690 MILES – 31 12 1959 – 735UYJ – MANUAL – PETROL – LEFT HAND DRIVE

Chassis number S836579DN - presented with a JDHT Trace Certificate stating the cars date of manufacture as November 11th 1959 and a Delivery to Jaguar of Eastern Canada. The first owner is detailed as a lady in Brantford Ontario with the car leaving Jaguar's Browns Lane Factory in British Racing Green.

We have no further detail on the cars history until 1995 when the car was discovered abandoned and in a state of disrepair in New Mexico by a Toronto businessman, who with some 40 year’s experience in vehicle restoration having owned for many years a successful classic vehicle restoration business in Ontario set about the meticulous body off restoration of this car. The history file contains a manuscript description of work undertaken by him, that included the sand blasting of the chassis along with a bare metal respray in Chrysler Viper Red and fully re-trimming the interior along with fitting new wire spoke wheels, the complete re wiring of the car and fully re-chroming the bright work. on the discovery of this "Lost car" there was no engine or gearbox fitted, the restorer informs us that he has used a 3.4 unit and gearbox from a 39000 donor 1968 Jaguar Mark II which he owned at the time of restoration.

The ground up restoration was to last from 2000 until 2005 and on completion the car was sold to a European gentleman as an investment opportunity, the car was again sold during 2014 and repatriated to the UK where it has been fully UK registered with DVLA and bears the registration number 735UYJ which corresponds to the Chassis Stamp on the car of S836579DN.

The car is presented with a quantity of invoices held within the history file. Jaguar introduced the XK150 during May 1957 as the replacement for the XK140 with a similar DOHC 3442cc power unit, a one piece wrap around front windscreen, larger front grille significantly raised shoulder line, from 1960 onwards the cars became available with the 3781cc engine which had been proven in the Jaguar Mark IX saloon. This example has the smaller rear light housings. The XK150 remained in production until October 1960 and was to be replaced by the all new E-Type which was launched during March 1961
