1975 Triumph Dolomite Sprint, full history from new. For Sale

This very special car has the most outstanding history from new. Two comprehensive folders of paperwork detail the full maintenance right throughout the cars life and further to this, the car is in its original specifications, original colours and presents in beautiful condition throughout. Our Triumph Dolomite Sprint is a RHD Home Market car that was built on the 8th January 1975, finished in Maple with Chestnut interior. The car was delivered new to Station Garage Sales Limited, High Wycombe and then onto the selling dealer, Sparshatts Limited, Cowes, Isle of Wight who supplied the car to a Limited Company in Southampton. GDL 964N was maintained in its early life by Sparshatts of Winchester and between February 1975 and January 1977 the main dealer serviced the Triumph at 978, 3629, 9256, 11959, 14448, 20868, 25610 and 29268 miles. The original service book also contains a two further stamps for this period with the mileage not handwritten in. In March 1977 Wryhams of Romsey serviced the car at 31693 and later in the November at 38667 miles. Also, in November 1977 the ownership was transferred to one of the Company Directors. In 1978 the Triumph was sold to its second private owner in Botley, Southampton and all service and maintenance receipts from 1978 are with the car. Invoices/receipts from main Leyland dealer George Sparshatt Ltd record mileages at 46697, 56928 and 66927 miles in 1982. Many separate invoices with no mileage record also are with the car from this period. From 1982 to 1989 the Triumph was in Winchester and once again invoices and records have been kept with the car. Mileages for absolutely every item of maintenance have been recorded but for ease, MOT certificates record the mileages at 69659, 74801, 82324, 84235, 89855, 94274 and in 1989 at 95438 miles. The most major work throughout this period was rebuilding the cylinder head in 1986 at 85200 miles. In September 1989 the Triumph sold to a private owner in Tamworth who kept the car for 24 years, selling the car in 2013 having covered just over 15000 miles in the car, taking it to 100,900 miles. Thousands of pounds worth of expenditure is once again recorded with pages of invoices from specialists such as Rimmer Bros are included in the file. In 2013 the car finally headed to the North of England, between 2013 and 2014 the Sprint had a brief owner and on changing hands again in 2014, the car had covered 104000 and was used initially on the show circuit with photos of the car at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster, Sandtoft Trolley Bus Museum, on Drive it Day at Artie's Mill, Brigg, Scotter Village Green and in Fenwick in 2015. Whilst in use over the show season, it was clear the Triumph presented in lovely condition as it does today, however in 2018 the owner decided to carry out some major work. The engine was treated to various work that included removing the oil pump, cleaning and re-fitting with a new seal, the engine was stripped and treated to new main and big end bearings, the rear main seal was replaced, the flywheel refaced, a new clutch fitted and various engine detailing carried out. The gearbox was externally steam cleaned, the top plate removed for inspection and a new gasket fitted, the gearbox was found in excellent condition and then serviced and detailed, new differential gaskets were fitted, new propshaft locknuts and bolts fitted, carburettors were fully rebuilt, brakes overhauled with copper brake pipes, new calipers, discs and rear cylinder fitted, coolant hoses were all replaced and the electrical and fuel system overhauled and detailed as required. The Dolomite Sprint was also treated to various bodywork to include the underside of the shell being sandblasted, new jacking points were fitted and the underside re-painted, seamsealed and stoneguarded in body colour. The subframe was prepared and re-painted, the bodyshell re-painted, a new vinyl roof fitted and various new body seals and weather strips fitted. Inner wing mouldings were replaced, headlamp bowls re-painted, brightwork carefully re-fitted with new clips and the underbody waxoyled on completion. Since completion the Triumph has covered just a further 1000 miles taking the total mileage from new to 107000. There's no doubt this is a remarkable car with the most fabulous history that includes the original service book, manuals, brochures, MOT certificates, Heritage Certificate, service invoices and receipts and restoration receipts. The whole entire life of the car has been tracked and whilst in 2018 the car was subject of various restoration work, it has the feel of a very original, honest car. The upholstery is beautiful, it smells like a relatively new Dolomite Sprint and feels correct and original. The bodywork and underside are excellent, the paint has a lovely bright, deep finish, chrome work and wheels are excellent, as is the relatively new vinyl roof and the engine bay and boot compartment are nicely detailed. On the road GDL 964N will not disappoint with fantastic performance from its rebuilt engine, the gearbox is super slick, handling, braking and steering all feel first class and the car is quick, responsive and so much fun. Its unlikely there is another Sprint available with this level of history and provenance, it really is a rarity to see such an impressive, comprehensive history. This is a real time warp, an unrepeatable opportunity to buy a top quality example with exemplary paperwork and a correct car that looks and performs superbly.
