This is an advert for my 1972 Triumph GT6 mk3,
12 Months MOT.
I have owned this car for 2.5 years and intended to complete a full ground up restoration on it, but unfortunately too many projects mean I just don’t see myself ever getting around to it hence why it is listed for sale.
When I got it the overdrive didn’t work, thankfully it just needed a couple of dodgy connections replacing, I also fitted the triumph quick steering rack with polybushes allowing a sportier feel and a new steering UJ as the old one had broken.
In this initial enthusiasm I also sourced and adapted a set of Triumph Dolomite HS6 carburettors which allowed me to make the straight six purr through the full stainless wheel barrow exhaust, a set of original seats replaced the mx5 seats that were in it when I got it too, these could do with some refurbishment now though.
It has just had a new wheel bearing and small repair to sill for its retest this weekend, unfortunately the Speedo cable snapped on the way back from its test, but a new one is supplied and if I get chance this week I will swap it over.
Unfortunately as you can see from the pictures this is not a show example of a Triumph GT6, it has in my opinion received poor repairs in its lifetime to the floors and sills, and my intention was always to get these repaired and replaced, it has just passed its mot and could be used and enjoyed for the next 12 Months, but I believe a body off the chassis may be the best way to go, which is not something I have the space to do at the moment.
As can be seen from the photos the Screen pillars and front gutter are also showing signs of rust and would also need some repair or replacement in the near future.
I repaired and repainted the bonnet two years ago and unfortunately I got the wrong shade of white, I intended to give it a full respray once I had sorted all the obvious rust issues, but alas the time has come to admit that I am never going to get around to it.
I have sourced a new rust free passenger door, and a period correct GT6 steering wheel, I also have the stromberg carburettors and other assorted parts which will come with the car.
I would welcome and recommend viewing, anytime after 6 on a weekday, the car is located in Coventry.
The car is sold as seen, with no returns
