For sale is my 1963 ERF KV 7.5 tonne flatbed lorry.
It was originally supplied to Thomas Montgomery and sons of Edinburgh. Who were potato merchants and they ran all e r f lorries, this was one of them. Their fleet included two smaller 7.5 tonne lorries and they had a larger Chinese super 6 8 Wheeler of which I have pictures of all three in their colours and livery in their early working days.
This lorry has received a restoration both mechanically and cosmetically. The mechanical restoration included a full engine rebuild incorporating two new head gaskets, pistons, shells, the block has been reboard and sleeved and new liners added. As a result the engine starts first time with the help of the cold start button and runs well producing 40 lbs of oil pressure, this lowers to around 30 lbs when warm.
The gearbox is a 5-speed David Brown unit incorporating a twin speed back axle operated by an electrical switch on the gear lever. This effectively makes the lorry have 10 forward speeds and two reverse. It drives well and is responsive on the road, she will sit at 40 miles an hour comfortably and will go to 45 at a push.
The chassis has been shot blasted and painted in its original colour and the cab has been sprayed in it's original white. Since the restoration work of the body work was carried out there are a few minor blemishes to the front of the cab, nothing to worry about yet.
The interior is in exceptional condition with soundproofing over and under the engine covers creating a pleasant driving environment.
There are two solid 10-ft steel ramps which lie flat on the back of the lorry and are long enough to load tractors such as a Fordson dexta. There is a spare gearbox to go with the lorry along with much literature, previous receipts, photographs and documents all of which add to the wagons substantial history.
Very well presented truck ready to rally, show or take pride of place in any vintage vehicle collection.
Price negotiable within reason but please no time wasters. I am in the market to sell but I'm in no rush, the wagon will stay until the right buyer is found.
