1966 registered Aston Martin DB5 finished in Navy blue with black hide interior. This must surely be one of the very last DB5‘s to be registered as this was well into the production period of the DB6. Owned by the current owner since 1992, this particular car has never before been advertised. It has not been a cosseted garage queen but has been regularly used and impeccably maintained throughout. On acquisition of the car, it was sent to Bodylines in Olney for some necessary chassis improvements and a back to metal repaint. Previously owned by Roger Horsfall and Bob Fairborn who campaigned the car in various Aston Martin Owners Club events, I first drove this excellent DB5 about 2 years ago and was instantly impressed by the way in which it performed. It became immediately obvious that the engine has more power and I now know that this is derived from a slightly increased cylinder capacity and the handling is also greatly improved due to the fitting of a Harvey Bailey handling kit. The 5 speed ZF manual transmission has been completely overhauled and the Salisbury rear axle has been rebuilt with a 3.71 limited slip differential by Aston Engineering. During the regular maintenance the distributor has also been rebuilt by Hella and is now fitted with a twin Luminition ignition system and fitted with a Rev limiter. If you are looking for a very useable DB5 that is a joy to drive and priced at a reasonable level, this motor car is well worth viewing. Sensibly priced at £595,000

In 1963 Aston Martin rolled out its 5th generation of David Brown cars named after the company’s owner and post war saviour, the Aston Martin DB5. The cowled headlamps of the DB5 gave this car a distinctly similar impression of the DB4GT; indeed, the DB5 was in many ways a continuation of the previous generation car.
