1959 Ferrari 196 S Dino recreation by Vincenzo Marciano of Tuscany, Italy VIN No. MV0005 Engine Number 135B-0001096 This is 1 of ONLY 12 Ferrari 159 S ever to be built by Marciano of Tuscany, making it extremely globally desired and sought after for any global collection. Rosso Corso and black Leather Ferrari sports racing cars of the 1950's are among the most desirable, beautiful, collectable and valuable cars in existence today. Dominant in racing, a pleasure to drive and highly collectible, they are the holy grail in collector car sphere and are now so valuable that they are rarely used, depriving the public and their owners of the joy of experiencing them. Consequently, a high quality reconfigurations using Ferrari mechanical components and faithfully recreate the construction of the original cars have garnered the interest of Ferrari enthusiasts and collectors seeking the experience of some of the most significant automobiles ever constructed without the multi-million-dollar price tags. This particular example is a recreation of the 196 Dino, amongst the earliest six cylinder Ferrari sports cars and fitted Ferrari pattern of placing the latest formulae one engine into a sports car. The notion of fitting a V6 engine was still quite novel, Lancia had introduced the world's first V6 power plant a few years earlier. This particular car is faithful Aluminium bodied recreation of the 196 that was built at least 30 years ago. It is a cosmetically attractive example with light mellowing, which takes the newness edge off, high standards with excellent panel fit and high quality paint. The paintwork is in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear and aging. There are a number of small blemishes in the bodywork which gives the car a credible patina. The covered Marshal headlamps are fitted and the remaining lights and glazing is in Good condition, are all operated by the original 50's key. The cars sits on Borelli wheels with Pirelli Cinturato Tyres. Note the spare also is evident with a small inspection hole behind the number plate. A Dunlop racing tyre has been specially fitted for to show the era of racing. The interior is spartanly finished with tubular construction that mimics the original cars of this era such as the Maserati birdcage and the original 196 Dino. The leather seats are in great shape and the interior components ate painted silver and in good order. The NARDI wood rim steering wheel is a collector's piece in itself and in excellent condition. All gauges are true to the period and in excellent working order. The Tachometer is a Jaeger unit. All brakes have recently been dismantled and serviced with all worn parts replaced. The car is fitted with a hand brake. The engine compartment is impressive with visible exposed Velocity stacks atop the 3 weber twin throat carburetors and red painted valve covers. The V6 Dino unit from a Fiat Dino, which was shared with the Ferrari Dino. The motor has been extensively worked on with the bore increased as well as the compression. New seats and guides were installed during this work. The engine compartment is spotless. The car was built to high standards and employs genuine Ferrari driveline. The car is evocative and exciting to drive. The exhaust note is fantastic and the gearbox drivetrain work harmoniously when warm. The chassis has a coherent and tight feel that is not always present in this genre of car, the brakes are now very effective. The gearing is fairly high making the car well suited to high speed travel and this faithful recreation represents value buying at $549,990 AUD. EGC
