1955 Austin® Champ (OEB) For Sale

For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Austin® Champ in Military Green (1955).

Circa 53, 600 miles. 4cyl Rolls Royce B40 Petrol Engine. MOT Exempt. Tax Exempt. Acquired from a prestigious military collection. First registered in UK in 1982.

Here for sale, from the same collection as the other Austin® Champ listed this week is a similar vehicle – apart from having a rear load space instead of the rear seat configuration.

As can be seen from the photos, this Champ also survives in good order, having been kept undercover…. it is presented here in ‘wind in the face’ format as can be achieved on all Champs. We really like this look and not only is it fun, but it is extremely easy to achieve – taking only a matter of seconds and no tools required. If the weather cools down/ worsens, the screen can be lifted and the roof erected for the odd shower. We have not shown the front window opening, although this is also an option should the weather be very warm but you don’t want the full force of the wind in your face!

In a similar vein to the other Champ, this one has plenty of the original kit remaining including the rear mounted spare, jerry can, bridging plate, military lighting and NATO hitch. The engine bay is tidy and new fanbelts have been recently fitted. The petrol engine starts keenly, and as with all these Champs, sounds fantastic when revved. These engines provide 80hp to a lightweight vehicle giving it a much more sprightly feel than one would expect from a vehicle of this age.

The interior is largely standard and functions as one would expect. The rear has a load space instead of the rear seating, although it can fold so that rear benches could be added in the future.

Out on the road, it drives like a Champ does – smooth gear change, fully independent suspension and a good turn of pace.

In summary, if you are looking for a well priced Austin® Champ that runs well and looks the part, then this could be for you.

This 1926 Austin 7 Chummy tourer has a lovely patina and character. Structurally the car is good, though the paintwork could be improved.
