1964 SOLD SOLD SOLD Buick Wildcat, big block 4 speed. For Sale

SOLD SOLD SOLD 1964 Buick Wildcat. Big block 4 Speed Hurst and posi rear. A very complete car with really nothing left to do except enjoy it. Very well looked after and used regularly, serviced thoroughly. The interior is a comfortable place be and that includes being in the saddle for up to 12 hours a day! Excellent heater and demister keeps you at a comfortable temperature and ensures the windows both front and rear stay clear. All gauges work and additionally there is a temperature gauge and tachometer located right in front of the driver. All gauges are illuminated brightly at night and even the ignition switch is illuminated on the Wildcat. All interior lights work as they should and bathe the interior in a soft glow at night. The glovebox and ashtray are illuminated on opening as is the trunk. The Hurst comp. plus shifter makes easy work of swapping gears on the 4 speed. Changes are crisp and the 11” clutch has a positive action. There are heavy duty shocks on all for corners and the addition of a rear sway bar has done wonders for going round corners. An aluminium 4 row radiator up front, twin electric fans and a high volume water pump ensure you don’t overheat in traffic and this has been tested at 40 degree heat for an hour and a half on a French autoroute. A fresh Edelbrock carburettor takes care of the fuel, there’s an Edelbrock intake manifold, big valve heads and Micky Thompson Valve covers to give a respectable look to the engine bay. The trunk is fully lined/ carpeted and clean. The Wildcat is not perfect, the paint is a typical American 5 foot paint job (note that I’m not saying 10 foot) but on the whole she is very respectable and presents well. The chrome is in excellent condition as is all the brightwork. A small amount of wear is now showing on the drivers seat bolster and there’s a very small crease on one of the wheel wells but I’m being fussy. This is a get in and drive car, she'll shift as fast or slow as you’d like and can be chucked about as long as you respect her weight and size and do anything too stupid. She is driven daily and in all types of traffic and is equally at home wherever you take her. She’ll waft along at 70 on the motorway, in town traffic or barrelling down an A road. Certainly she’s more capable than when she left the factory. I would ask any serious buyers to contact me by phone and I can provide you access to the blog fully documenting this car's life since arriving in the UK.

The following comes from a Hemmings write up on a 401 manual car; “In a secluded spot just outside of town, you sit patiently at the stoplight, waiting for it to jump from red to green. At the tip of your toes are 401 cubic inches of pure joy, rumbling at a quiet idle. Drop the hammer, and in seconds your right hand is pulling gears as the linear feet click off. Hit a moderate left-hander without lifting--the car sticks like it's tracking on a giant swath of flypaper, screaming tires and all. Sounds like an A-body, right? Wrong. Forgot you were sitting in a ponderous-looking full-size Buick, didn't you? You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that in the early Sixties, the automakers had been depositing high-horsepower producers under the hoods of everything except compacts--though that, too, was coming. To obtain one, all you had to do was select the right options and fork over the extra cash.”

Options on car: Four-speed, Sonotone radio, Safety group (reverse lamps, brake-on lamp, glareproof inside mirror and speed buzzer), Remote-control outside rearview mirror, Power steering, Power brakes, Positive traction differential, passenger side outside rear view mirror, Deluxe interior, rear window demister, front floor mats

We completed 3180miles on European road trip last August. Fitted with a 1970 date coded 455 cu in V8, 375HP / 510 ft lbs torque. Big valve heads, Edelbrock torker455 inlet manifold, new Edelbrock 750cfm carburettor, very rare 4 speed manual with Hurst comp. plus shifter. 3. 42 limited slip differential. Saddle/ tan interior and switchgear in the sort of condition that supports the 39, 000 odd miles showing on the odometer. In the past 3 and a half years the Buick has had a new starter motor, the clutch, release bearing & pressure plate replaced. The brake system was overhauled as a precaution and the rear hub seals were replaced at the same time. Matching tyres all round including spare, fresh dual exhaust. New aluminium 4 core radiator and electric fans. Fresh window seals. 5 new Torque Thrust D's, front sway bar drop links, 4 new shocks, a rear sway bar fitted which has greatly improved handling. Re-stuffed the front seats for better comfort & lumbar support. H4 halogen conversion. Painted engine and cleaned and tidied engine bay, pulled the dash and sorted gauges and lighting , cleaned up fuel filler, flushed cooling system and a recent oil change. Various fettling and small jobs done. Drives, corners and stops very well. Starts first time and is very reliable, gobbles up the miles and is in daily use rain or shine and being a manual she is remarkably fast and economical at 16/ 18mpg. Recently fitted a NOS rear window demister and a new battery. A dry state car from New Mexico via Vagas Classic Muscle cars in Nevada. New Impco LPG system fitted August 2018(can be removed on request and receipt of a deposit), at 64p/ litre this gives a 28/ 30 mpg cost equivalent. All mechanical systems overhauled in order to ensure reliability. Drive anywhere, no excuses, no provisos. Selling to buy a Datsun Z car. Everything has been documented, search for “Classic Rambling” group on Facebook.
