1973 PORSCHE 911 2,4S in 2,5 S/T FIA Specs For Sale

In 1970, the introduction of the 2. 2L engine in the 911 range was a great opportunity for Porsche to introduce a replacement to the 911 R for their devoted racing clients. Using as a starting base a 2. 2L, the S/ T ran in Group 4 competition after the FIA allowed Porsche to increase the bore of its 2. 2L so to enlarge the engine. Displacement increased to 2247cc due to the 85mm bore and the stroke of 66mm remained unchanged. Porsche took the opportunity of the Group 4 rules to enhance all areas of the engine.
"Biral" cylinders, higher compression ratios (10. 3:1), Mahle pistons, twin-plug heads, polished connecting rods and plastic high butterfly intake trumpets were a few of the improvements. The power jumped to an astonishing 240 hp. The doors, hood, and bumpers were exchanged for lightweight fiberglass ones and all non-essential interior items were removed.
When this diet work completed, the vehicle weighed just 850 kg. About 30 works cars were built, and some customers had their cars modified at the factory or they were delivered "M491" mounting kits. In 1972, with the introduction of the 2. 4L, the engine was again enlarged to the limits of the 2. 0-2. 5L class and evolves to 2. 5L with this time 280 hp, thanks to a stroke of 70. 4 mm and a bore of 86. 7 mm.
The 911 2. 5 S/ T was developed for sporty use for customers in Group 3 (GT vehicle series) and Group 4 (modified GT vehicles). Available through Porsche's sports division, it did cost 49 680 Marks at the end of 1971. The 2. 5 S/ T made its reputation both in rallyes and on the racetracks, like at the Targa Florio or the Le Mans 24 Hours.
The car we're offering had been prepared for a long time when the current owner bought it at the beginning of 2018. It has been completely dismantled and a complete restoration in the spirit of the 911 2. 5 S/ T has been undertaken, the bodywork and all the running gears being entrusted to the excellent RV-Classic establishment of David Hervé. The mechanics (engine and gearbox) as well as its tuning have been entrusted to Crubilé Sport the no less famous workshop specialized in Porsche of Sebastien Crubilé. The specification was simple: an ultra-competitive engine and large 917 brakes for the mechanical aspect, and an attention to details for this restoration pushed to the maximum. One goal: Tour Auto 2019! The contract was fulfilled by the two craftsmen, and it is with its FIA HTP in progress that the car took the start of the Tour Auto. After a wet week of special stages and circuits, the car finished in 6th place in Group H-I among Ferrari 308 Group 4, Porsche 2. 8 RSR and 3. 0 RSR and other Ligier JS2 and Pantera Group IV.
