Definitely a future classic, the VX200 was a collaboration between Lotus and General Motors. Built alongside the Elise at the Lotus factory at Hethel in Norfolk, the VX220 shared the Lotus stiff, aluminium chassis and most suspension and steering components.
Hence the VX220 is a Lotus with a Vauxhall badge. So if you don’t care about that – and, let’s face it, any sensible person shouldn’t – then the VX220 Turbo is rarer, easier to drive, more powerful (0-60 in 4.7 seconds), has ABS and airbags, and hence represents terrific value and a cast-iron investment.
However, many VXTs have either been used as track-day toys, been crashed on the road, or have been neglected, left outside in the winter, and hence have bodywork problems or chassis damage.
Not this one: This is a great car. One of the last VX220 to be delivered, first registered on 5th September 2005 - one owner - and a remarkable 3,965 miles only. Completely original and unmodified, it is in great condition. The MOT history shows low, regular use when it hasn’t been stored under a cover and on a battery conditioner in our dry, secure car store. We have maintained this car for several years and have carried out a recent thourough check over and cam-belt service.
Great opportunity to buy one of the nicest VX220 Turbos to come on the market for some time.
