Here I have for sale my beautiful 911 aircooled 1983 SC
I bought the car 3.5 years ago with the intention of doing a "quick" backdate and respray and they use it for a year or two...How wrong was I ?!
What then happened is I spent a good 3 years having the paint done, the car built back up and essentially turning into a mini restoration.
I work in a non Porsche related area of the automotive industry so chose my base car perfectly. I was well aware of the rampant clocking that goes on with these cars and chose based on condition and ended up with a perfect base car. Sourced from a private owner in London the car was in daily use and critically had no rot. The kidney bowls had been done previously but there was no rot on the shell or wings etc. It stood out amongst a lot of "80k" sheds that had rotten wings and clearly forged history. The clocks on this one sit proudly at 204k very honest and I suspect most cars of this vintage have similar real miles. It can be viewed on a lift it is close to perfect underneath/behind the bumpers and the wings inside and out. We did NO welding on this car!
So with the car purchased I used it for about 3 months and then put it in for the paint doing. Being a bit of a long term job and been busy with work 2 years seemed to slip by and then around the last 8 months it has been built up and had a bit of a mini resto with new carpets/seals and all of the little niggles sorted (little things like the wash wipers not working etc have all been worked through and cleared up.
So I'll try to summarise the spec of a car:
1983 SC 2.0 200 BHP base model HPI and fully accident damage free.
Impact bumpers removed and RS style ducktail/bumpers added
Cobra bucket seats with body colour shells
Rear show cage
Rear seats and belts retained
OEM Fuchs wheels with turbo sizes so 8s and 9s (rear wheels were brand new costing 3k)
SSI Heat exchangers all replaced recently
All consumables in perfect order tyres/discs/brakes
Long bonnet conversion with wing extensions and light conversion
Prototipo steering wheel
Gearbox was refurbished prior to my purchase (not G50!)
Torsion beam on rear effectively refurbished as part of the lowering process.
Carbon style doorcards with pull straps
Full quality repaint in Porsche Mexico blue (not a blow over this although not a bare metal job was glass out and ran to well over 5k) Lower stone chip all removed and reapplied and the underside sealed.
I've probably missed off a few bits but the car is fully back on the road it went straight through it's MOT with no advisories. The steering is pin sharp and any issues that have arisen have been dealt with.
Mechanical wise everything is stock this is the point at which I've stopped with the project for now. The engine starts and runs and performs very well it has never consumed oil at all in the time I have owned it. There is no evidence in the history of a rebuild but at this mileage it must have been done at least once. The car doesn't have loads of paperwork but I do have the original service book and some bits of invoices.
In addition the car has just come back from esteemed Porsche specialist Lee Mayor Restorations where it was lowered and had a service and check over to fully prepare for sale.
So really it can be used as is or would make a cracking base to build up a carb'd engine or 3.2 conversion. If the car doesn't sell this would be my plan but a lot has changed in the 3 years I have had the car hence the sale. PX wise I could take something I work as a Lotus specialist so any modern Lotus would be no problem.
Substantially reduced as new car is arriving imminently and I need the garage space!
Housekeeping - Dealers you are welcome to bid but I don't want SOR - No beards/sock/sandal brigade telling me that some spec or other is wrong for the year or other odd stuff - No dreamers - I wont take 40k for it etc
If interested please mail with a number and I'll call - if you message with an offer and I think it's reasonable I'll reply to request a phone number.
I have extensive pictures from the whole project these will be available to anyone that comes to see the car.
