This Triumph Spitfire Mk1 was born in 1963 and specced as a LHD US market version. Ordered in classic Conifer Green with black trim, it was later repainted orange. The last owner bought it in 2005. He had the car repainted Emerald Green for $ 500. This paint job still looks as awful today as it did back then. You get what you pay for: bad prep work, paint on rubbers and a meagre finish.
On the positive end, underneath that inferior paint job is a very solid body. We could not find any rust or old repair work, courtesy of the southern Californian climate. Chassis, floors and sills are rust free and show their factory finish.
The interior needs to be refurbished. Non-original wooden dashboard, as well as aftermarket sports seats. The convertible top frame is missing, as are the front and rear bumpers. Included are a tonneau cover, service manual, instruction manual and paint work invoice from 2005.
Technically, this Spitfires appears to be in very sound condition. Lots of recent work was done, including new tyres, brake parts, a new fuel pump, ignition parts, suspension bushes and dust covers, spark plugs and engine oil. The car runs and drives well. 94.923 mls on the odometre.
A thorough cosmetic restoration will make this early Spitfire great again.
