1950 Land Rover Series 1 80 For Sale

A fantastic example of one of the most iconic 4X4 automobiles that inspired countless future generations. A desirable restored Series 1 80” that provides a classic but useable drive, finished in Bronze Green with Dark Green canvas and new Dark Green seats, this early cherished example is ready to be enjoyed this summer.

Inspired by the US wartime Army ‘Jeep’, Land Rover bosses, the Wilks brothers, set out to satisfy the demand for a rugged four-wheel-drive utility vehicle supplied to the agricultural community. Initially intended to only be a short-term and low scale production 4X4, the Land Rover became a runaway success after its release in 1948 taking the Wilks brothers by surprise.

A rough and ready automobile, with its basic construction, 1, 595cc four-cylinder engine and corrosion resistant aluminium panels set to lay the foundations for what has become one of Britain’s most respected automotive icons, inspiring future designs and it is estimated that two-thirds of all Land Rovers ever produced are still in existence today.

A beautifully presented early 1950 Land Rover Series 1 80” wheelbase model. This iconic example was despatched new to well-known and Land Rover approved Grimsby, Lincolnshire dealership, DH & AH Bloomer, first established in 1920 by the Bloomer brothers. The Series 1 was then first registered in Holland, Lincolnshire November 1950. This iconic 4X4 remained regularly used in the Lincolnshire area for a decade until early 1960 where it is believed the Land Rover was taken off the road and left untouched.

It was in April 2004 the Land Rover was purchased with the intention of restoring the car back to its former glory. The following years saw the Series 1 fully stripped revealing the trusted Land Rover engineering formula stood the test of time resulting in all major mechanical components left in exceptional condition.

Due to this extensive restoration, the Land Rover was treated to re-dipped galvanised components, new bulkhead, completely re-bushed chassis, new leaf springs and even saw a new undercover hood and seats installed.

Finished in a Land Rover iconic shade of deep Bronze Green with accompanying dark green soft top. The paint remains in exceptional condition with all the body panels visually straight. While the spare wheel is currently stored at the rear, the bonnet retains the original mounting points to complete that classic agricultural look.

Fitted with period correct Series 1 steel wheels that have been refinished finished in Bronze Green, the Land Rover looks the part from top to bottom.

As a result of its restoration, the Land Rover features a complete set of matching front period correct square seats. The Series 1 is also fitted with matching trim rear bench seats.

Presenting an impressively detailed engine bay and with a turn of the key the original petrol engine bursts into life. Our 80" Land Rover is offered with a BMIHT Certificate and V5C document and proves to offer a truly driveable investment.

Don't miss out on this beautiful matching numbers example - we are happy to welcome all serious buyers to view this iconic machine that set the standard for future Land Rover models, at our Kent premises. Enquire today.
