Ferruccio Lamborghini was born on April 28th 1916 under the zodiac sign of Taurus. A successful industrialist himself, he would display great admiration for fighting bulls sharing his mettle of ferocious determination when challenged. In 1963 he founded Automobili Lamborghini with an emblem depicting a raging Miura bull from Don Eduardo Miura's breed in Seville, renowned for their temperament and size that could prove deadly if underestimated. Once produced the 350 GT and 400 GT to settle a challenge by Enzo Ferrari, he named his first supercar as 'Miura' to further honor the lineage. From that point on, Ferruccio would name his cars under legendary fighting bulls from history for displaying remarkable fierceness and stamina in the arena. Lamborghini’s P132 model was named as 'Diablo' under an exceedingly vicious bull of the 19th century that was raised by the Duke of Veragua and fought Jose Lara Jimenez in Madrid in 1869. The Diablo's aggression was transfused into P132's body initially by designer Marcello Gandini but later tamed by Chrysler’s Tom Gale to serve Lamborghini owner GM/ Chrysler’s doctrines of the era. Nevertheless, once Lamborghini was acquired by a group of private investors, the Diablo’s original inspiration was revisited and the limited production Sport Veloce edition was unveiled. The SV's engine had enlarged valves and faster camshafts thereby producing a massive 510 bhp output applied to the rear wheels through a shorter final drive resulting in an explosive acceleration of 3. 9 sec to 100 km/ h and a standing Km in 20. 8 sec. Through a firmer suspension, quicker steering, larger 4-caliper Brembo brakes, 18 inch rims at the rear and light alloy OZ-Racing wheels, the SV became and remained the best handling Diablo ever produced. Its production lasted only 6 years, terminated a year after VW Audi Group acquired Lamborghini Automobili.
The SV featured here was produced in 1997 in Titanium over Torpedo Nero. Wisely chosen, this color enhances uniquely the interplay of volumes displaying raw functionality’s predominance over loping elegance. Unlike most SVs in existence, this one was not simply stored and admired but also driven with its fierce potential unleashed both on the road and on track. It is now offered fully serviced with upgraded facelift headlights and OS Giken reinforced clutch.
