1969 Jaguar E-Type Series II 2+2 Matching Nos Fully Restored For Sale

TBD 2G is a matching numbers, UK car that was first registered on the 23rd April 1969 and has recently completed a full nut and bolt restoration that has cost in the region of £80, 000. This is without doubt the very best Jaguar E-Type 2+2 we have offered onto the market; it has been completely dismantled and rebuilt with no expense spared and has arrived with us still running in after its major program of work. From 1969 to 2004 this car was in regular use as a strong, original example and in 2004 the most recent owner purchased the car. Over the past 15 years this E-Type 2+2 has been subject of a magnificent restoration and is offered onto the market in pristine condition.

This E-Type started life in Towcester, Northamptonshire and spent two years with its first owner. On the 22nd October 1971 the car was registered in Norbury, London SW16 and changed hands several times throughout the 1970's and 1980's within the Capital. By 1981 the E-Type was in Uxbridge and it finally left London in 1994 heading north to Hunstanton. The E-Type clearly was a car in regular use in its early life, its MOT test in 1981 recorded the mileage at 69622 at just twelve years old. By the time the E-Type left London in 1994, it had covered 83056 miles and the regular use continued throughout the 1990's and 2000's with 109244 covered by 2004.

TBD 2G arrived in Lancashire in 2004 and a restoration program commenced. The bodyshell was completely stripped down, dismantled and effectively rebuilt to the standards of a brand new bodyshell. Thousands of pounds were spent on new panels with Martin Robey to include floor pans, inner and outer sills, sill ends, wheel arches, door skins, rear panel, roof panel and front frame assembly. The bonnet was completely stripped down and totally rebuilt as new and the bodyshell completely rebuilt with gaps perfectly set. The bare shell was completely re-painted, the underside and engine bay prepared to look as impressive as the external finish. The engine was stripped down and fully rebuilt at a cost of over £10, 000 including various parts/ ancillaries such as flywheel, clutch kit, carburettors, manifolds etc. The rear subframe was stripped down and rebuilt, the four speed all syncro gearbox rebuilt, the braking system, suspension, fuel system, cooling system all rebuilt as new, a full SS exhaust system fitted, thousands of pounds worth of new parts and ancillaries fitted, plus a new wiring loom and electrical system overhaul carried out.

The car was built up with a show standard engine bay, show standard underside and all new or re-furbished chrome work fitted. All new rubbers, gaskets, lights were fitted, new wheels and tyres and the interior completely re-trimmed with beige leather upholstery. A vintage wireless company stereo was fitted and in early 2019 final re-fitting and detailing was carried out prior to the car being placed in a museum quality garage with various other prestigious classic cars. Having had this high quality, non-expense spared rebuild, the E-Type can be bought with absolute confidence. TBD 2G drives like it left the supplying dealer in 1969, it feels like new with a perfect rebuilt engine and gearbox, it feel tight, responsive and holds the road perfectly, and its appearance it quite simply first class, with an exceptional rebuilt bodyshell, first class paint finish, gleaming new chrome, as new underside and detailed, gleaming under bonnet finish with beautifully presented new upholstery. Finished in a stunning colour combination, this incredibly attractive motor car is not only top class in every respect, it has the provenance of being a matching numbers, UK car with history dating back to new in the form of its original ‘buff' logbook. MOT's back to 1981, service invoices throughout the 1990's and the more recent restoration invoices that confirm completion in early 2019.
