1970 MGB Roadster, Iris Blue. For Sale

This Mark II MGB Roadster was first registered in August 1970 (J Reg) finished in superb and recent Iris Blue paintwork, a fabulous period colour, with Black Interior; the whole car having been painted to a very high standard. The recorded mileage is 47,000 miles, although given the age of the car we cannot warrant this. The car has silver wire wheels fitted, a brand new mohair cover and a canvas roof. In our experience the 1970 Mk II model with the all-synchromesh gears is one of the most desirable. All MGBs (except the V8 version) utilised the BMC B-Series four cylinder engine, which was essentially an enlarged version of the engine used in the MGA with displacement being increased from 1,622 to 1,798 cc. Horsepower was rated at 95 bhp on the post 1964 five-main-bearing engine with peak power coming at 5,400 rpm with a 6,000 rpm redline. 60 mph being achievable from standstill in a shade under 12 seconds. In late 1967, the MGB Mark II model was launched along with the all synchromesh gearbox other changes included: an optional Borg-Warner automatic gearbox, a new rear axle, an alternator, and a change to a modern negative earth system. Rostyle wheels were introduced in 1969 and reclining seats were standardized in 1970. The MGB is one of the world’s iconic sports cars, a grand total of 512,112 tourers and GTs made the MGB the world’s top selling sports car of its era; the first to reach half a million and the top selling British sports car of all time. It seems that the owner has spent a small fortune on this car, beside the obvious cosmetics, the car has new rear brakes, new battery, new windscreen weather strip and window rubbers, new side chrome badges, new bumpers front and rear with over-riders, new grille, new reversing lights, new headlamps and new side repeaters, new kick plates, new door rubbers and new door trims and handles, alternator, alloy rocker cover etc etc! This car is in excellent condition, having had a lot of money spent on it. Historic tax class so no road tax to pay, ready to be used and loved by its next owner.
