1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III V12 Roadster Auto - Outstanding For Sale

We are delighted to offer this truly magnificent genuine UK supplied RHD Jaguar E-Type V12 Automatic onto the market. UWM 101L was subject of a full nut and bolt restoration to show standard condition by World Jaguar specialists XK Engineering in 1997-1998 at a cost of almost £60,000. The E-Type was sold by us in 2009 in show condition having covered just 3000 miles since the rebuild. Seven years later the Jaguar returned to us having covered 15,000 miles, it had toured the UK extensively. Over this period the E-Type has had in the region of £7,000 spent on maintenance to the highest of standards. In 2016 we sold this V12 for the second time and since then has been in the hands of one of our long term customers in Scotland. The E-Type has formed part of an impressive collection and has been used in fine weather only. UWM 10L comes with a full photographic record of the restoration, restoration invoices from XK Engineering and further parts invoices and MOT certificates since rebuild. £60,000 of restoration costs in the late 1990's was a huge amount of money considering you could purchase a top class Roadster for the half that amount at the time. A major part of that cost were brand new body panels that effectively make this E-Type a re-shelled car. A full photographic record demonstrates the level of work and the list of brand new panels is exhaustive, including new bonnet. UWM 10L originally left the Jaguar factory in Coupe format and as the car was in need of total restoration, the owner commissioned XK Engineering to re-shell the car professionally as a Roadster. Considering the costs of restoration, the owner opted to have the car in Roadster form as costs to original specification would cost a similar amount. This truly outstanding example should not be confused with the many conversions out there, this is a car that has been stripped down to nothing and rebuilt with brand new panels to an effectively brand new bodyshell by top Jaguar specialists and is therefore an exceptional, top class example that offers exceptionally good value to the discerning E-Type buyer who is looking for a first class example to use, drive and enjoy on a regular basis. On completion of the bodyshell, it was fully re-painted in Old English White. Mechanical and electrical components were all stripped down, rebuilt/replaced as necessary, fully detailed to show condition and re-fitted to the car. The E-Type was fitted with brand new upholstery, new hood and frame, kept on its original steel wheels and all brightwork was re-chromed. On completion very low annual mileage was covered and in 2009 when sold by us it was barely run in. A further 14000 miles have been covered and the car has been a delight to own. It has reliably toured the South Coast of England several times, taken to Jersey and has covered many miles touring Yorkshire and more recently Scotland. Maintenance and upkeep in recent years includes all new hoses, replacement exhaust manifolds with new manifold, inlet and inner inlet gaskets, new drive belts, new heater valve, header tank, four new tyres and all new ignition items. We can confirm the E-Type returns to us in exceptional mechanical condition with a superb engine and gearbox. The front suspension, brakes and rear suspension, brake and differential unit are all in excellent condition and the car is truly first class to drive. The paintwork and bodywork are pristine, the engine bay incredibly detailed and the underside completely first class. With beautiful upholstery, mohair hood and brightwork, this E-Type is worthy of winning prizes, yet continuously proves the ultimate, reliable long-distance touring car.
