1937 Vauxhall 12/4 Series i. The car is one of only 27 left in the world, of 9600 built pre and postwar (documented by the Vauxhall heritage group ). At its launch this car was packed with features that weren’t even available on cars double its price: *The first ever unitary construction all steel bodied car made in the UK *Original1442cc overhead valve engine *Hydraulic brakes *DuBonnet Independent torsion bar front suspension *Self cancelling ‘trafficators’ *Camshaft driven variable speed windscreen wipers The cars name is Vivien, named after Vivien Leigh of “Gone with the Wind” fame. Body identification symbols ‘ID’ indicates that she is an anomaly, all 12/4’s carried designation IA or IB indicating ‘Standard’ or ‘Deluxe’ respectively, this cars specs fall between the two. D meaning Development model, i.e. why it is 1937 on the papers while they didn't come out until 1938. The car was born in England, then exported to South Africa, and is back in the UK, with all UK tax & duty paid.
