West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional condition example of this 2006 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti F1A Coupe in the beautiful and highly desirable color combination of original factory solid 'Gray Metallic' (Ferrari code 3238) exterior paint with a tan leather seats interior and with the F1A automated manual paddle shift transmission!

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti (Type F137) is a 2+2 coup grand tourer manufactured between 2004 and 2010. It was designed to replace the smaller 456; its larger size makes it a true 4 seater with adequate space in the rear seats for adults. The design, especially the large side scallops and the headlights, pays homage to the coach built 1954 375 MM that director Roberto Rossellini had commissioned for his wife, Ingrid Bergman. The 612 is Ferrari's second all-aluminium, both space frame and body, V12 vehicle; the first being the 360 Modena. Its space frame, manufactured in collaboration with Alcoa, is made from extrusions and castings of the material, and the aluminium body is then welded on. The chassis of the 612 formed the basis of the 599 GTB flagship grand tourer. The 612 Scaglietti shares its engine with the 575 Superamerica - despite the name's suggestion that it is a six-litre V12 the displacement is actually 5,748 cc (5.7 L). The engine has a compression ratio of 11:1 and enables the car to attain a top speed of 199 mph and allows it to accelerate from 060 in 4 seconds. Two choices of transmissions were available on the 612, a 6-speed manual or as installed in this particular example, the 6-speed automated manual paddle shift transmission designated the F1A, a much refined version of the F1 transmission used in the 360.

The new 612 was sold for about $250,000 (over $325K in 2020 dollars), an increase of about 5% over its predecessor, the nearly 12-year-old 456M GT. The four-cam, 5.7-liter engine is fitted behind the front axle line, and combined with the rear transaxle, 54 percent of the weight is over the back wheels, a distribution that closely mirrors Mercedes' sort-of rival, the $450K SLR McLaren. From behind the nearly vertical steering wheel, with its paddle-shifting manual gearbox in auto mode, the transformation isn't just in packaging but also in the new car's personality. No Ferrari has ever been this easygoing comfortable. In the default "normal" mode, the control-arm suspension's adaptive damping absorbs potholes and irons out the rough edges of troublesome surfaces. The supple-riding 612 feels soft and pliable, yet controlled. The rear-mounted gearbox shifts fluently, without the fussy jerkiness that so undermined earlier iterations of the F1 system. The gentle speed-sensitive steering may in fact be too light and lacking in self-centering for Ferrari traditionalists. It's a naturally graceful car to drive slowly. Threading through heavy traffic, avoiding manic baby Fiats, the biggest Ferrari ever (at 193 inches in length) quickly shrinks around the driver.

It is quick, very quick. Tapping into the V-12's performance is easy. The car is responsive and eager, effortlessly building a long, linear power delivery. The driver is never aware that the peak torque of 434 pound-feet arrives at a high 5250 rpm, and maximum power at a smooth 7250 rpm, before sliding into the next ratio just shy of the 7400-rpm redline. By Ferrari standards, the V-12 is almost quiet, no bellowing exhaust here, but rather a purposeful mechanical growl. Gun it away from a light, and there's no loss of traction even on wet roads. No wheelspin, no squat, the 612 represents a significant departure for Maranello. Some will call it Ferrari's four-seater sports car, but we prefer the more wide-ranging grand-tourer label. Either way, snow or not, the 612's a car of immense ability.

The body of the 612 was produced at Ferrari's Carrozzeria Scaglietti plant, the former home of the car's namesake coachbuilder in Modena, Italy. It was then taken to the Ferrari factory located at Maranello and the V12 engine along with the interior were installed. A total of 3,025 cars were produced, with only 199 equipped with a manual gearbox. In early 2008, at the Geneva Car show, Ferrari unveiled the One-To-One (OTO) personalization program and thereafter the 612 was only available through this special order process. The OTO program took the catalog of options under the existing Carrozzeria Scaglietti Programme a step further. Clients hand-picked a wide variety of options from leather swatches to brake calipers and everything in between. Although the OTO program was launched on the 612 Scaglietti, it was broadened to the entire Ferrari range in due course. The Ferrari 612 was replaced by the Ferrari FF in 2011.This is therefore another very rare and collectible Ferrari; 1 of only 2,826 F1A 612 Scaglietti's built!

Purchased new at 'Ferrari of Beverly Hills' of Beverly Hills, CA on 1/20/2006 and delivered to it's original southern California owner in Los Angeles where it was after being serviced at 'Ferrari of Beverly Hills' it was serviced out of warranty at the renown independent specialists 'Independent Rolls Royce' of Los Angeles, CA. The car was then purchased and shipped to only it's second owner in Florida in 2012 where it was serviced at the Ferrari dealership of Fort Lauderdale, FL until being brought back to California in 2020 where it was again recently serviced at 'Independent Rolls Royce'.

The car has reportedly always been a non-smoking owners car from new which has obviously always been serviced on schedule and as required and will be sold with its original owners handbooks, dealers service booklet, etc and which sold for an original purchase price of over $250K (equivalent to over $325+ in 2020 according to the CPi inflation calculator). Driven only sparingly, obviously never seen rain or bad weather and always well maintained and serviced at only Ferrari independent specialists or dealerships since new and always garaged with no accidents and owned by only obviously only very careful and meticulous and mature owners since new - never raced or abused. The original factory 'Gray Metallic' color paint is in absolutely beautiful condition with no noticeable imperfections and the completely original tan leather interior with its original Ferrari leather skins is also in beautiful condition with virtually no signs of any wear apart from a very small imperfection on the drivers side seat bolster from entering and exiting the car.

This particular example drives exactly like such a well maintained and serviced 612 Ferrari should and must be seen and driven to be fully appreciated. You will surely look long and hard to find a finer example of this F1A model in exceptionally clean and increasingly collectible shape.
