Built into a low mileage shell, this is a real 'no expense spared' conversion. I have a folder bulging with receipts and invoices from the build process which total in excess of £55,000. Vehicle currently shows 93k miles although that translates to less than 10k miles since the build was completed.
The shell is immaculate and was painted with a fresh coating of BMW Alpine White II.
Engine & Gearbox
Supercharged M62M44 powerplant!
Sourced from a low mileage 1997 E39 540i, the engine has subsequently been built with a steel lined block, CP pistons, new bearing throughout and MLS head gaskets. New oil pump, alternator and timing chains were also included.
The 4.4L engine wasn't going to suffice on its own so an ESS Vortec supercharger kit was bought from America with a Devils own Methanol injection system.
Custom 2.5" stainless steel exhaust system including ceramic coated manifolds to reduce engine intake temperature.
To pair and manage the installation, an Emerald K6 ECU with multiple maps keeps control.
The latest power test saw figures close to 520BHP & 640NM torque...
Transmission was also taken from the 540i donor vehicle and therefore has a 6-speed manual gearbox and uprated clutch. Differential is a larger 210mm LSD with 3.07 final drive ratio.
Delivering the power to the rear wheels are custom a prop shaft and drive shafts manufactured by Davmac.
If you know E30s then you will already have smile on your face, the already lively E30 chassis was initially developed to have 171BHP from a 325i and here we have close to 520BHP.
In an attempt to tame the beast, installed are adjustable GAZ Gold dampers with custom spring ratings and height adjustable platforms all round. H&R adjustable anti roll bars on both the front and rear help to manage the power increase.
In order the keep the 'Sleeper' appearance, a set of refurbished BBS 15" Cross Spoke wheels with Yokohama AD048s attempt to deliver the power to tarmac.
Beneath the wheels are 300mm front brake discs with WMS 4-Pot callipers. Ferodo DS2500 brake pads front and rear aid stopping power.
Designed as an obscenely fast road/track car, it was important to retain comfort within the cabin. Therefore, the installation of E28 M535i front seats which have multiple comfort adjustments. The interior has been re-trimmed in Grey Alcantara and a black headlining installed.
Front electric windows, electric sunroof, electric mirrors and central locking all function as they should.
Retro fitted E30 cruise control makes longer journeys a joy and helps to see 30mpg on a run.
I have some spares to go with the vehicle. A second set of refurbished 15" BBS Cross Spoke wheels with tyres. Original 540i ECU. Spare supercharger belts, ancillary belts and engine cover. I will also include whatever Methanol I have spare and fresh supercharger oil.
