For sale through AB4x4s Cleveland and on behalf of a customer is this remarkable 1955 86” Land Rover series 1 soft top.
We are delighted to be marketing this rare vehicle for a customer who previously purchased it from us back in November 2016. It has been parked up in a garage and only been out on sunny days for pootling around the country lanes.
What drew the current owner to this vehicle was its originality of its running gear and the beautiful patina of the bodywork. Also the fact that it underwent a substantial refurbishment back in 2014 when it had a replacement hot dipped galvanised bulkhead. Also had some new outriggers to deem the chassis one of the best we have seen. In fact I thought it was a galvanised chassis, (it was that good!), until I read through the file of receipts.
Below is a detailed description of spec and new parts…
CHASSIS- This is one of the best we have witnessed. Been restored only 6 years ago with super neat and professional welding which is hard to spot. Has been kept wax oiled and not seen the rain. Chassis number of 57106791 matches the original engine number of 57116837. A heritage certificate is also present.
ENGINE- A sweet sounding and fit original 2l engine that has had many new parts. Still running on a dynamo and has been subject to a recent wiring loom back in 2014.
BULKHEAD- This will never need any maintenance due to being an Ashtree refurbished hot galvanised dipped one. A really nice thing to have to protect your investment.
BODYWORK- Well I just love the look of this one. In my opinion it is exactly what an old series one should look like. I wouldn’t change a thing. These are getting harder to find in this beautiful and original condition. Looks great with the high quality Exmoor trim soft top that still looks new.
INSIDE- A nice place to be with 3 front seats for your passengers. We can add 2 rear bench seats if so required. There is a lovely patina here also. To keep you warm is a round Smiths heater nicely in keeping with the period look.
RUNNING GEAR- This is mostly recent with a file of receipts of new parts since 2014.
So all in all this is a wonderful opportunity to buy a piece of usable history. A vehicle as original as this will certainly appreciate in value and in this financial climate much better that money in the bank. Any interested parties I would advise to act quickly as I am sure this will not be about long.
